Stuttering Bachmann Class 66

Postby triuph1050 » Wed Sep 19, 2018 12:16 pm

Best thing to do to show whats going on was to make a video. Theres a point half way through the speed step were the loco stutters before that range at slow speed its fine after that setting at a higher speed its fine. Have changed CV settings but no matter at mid speed it stutters. PS don't laugh at me layout, I'm just starting out and I could only have 7x4 in the 'man shed' :)

From what I can see, I would say you need some more track feeds as it looks like there may be a lack of voltage in some areas. How many power feeds have you got and are you using point clips on the points?

PS also answered on the Hornby forum.

What decoder? Some low cost decoders have discontinuity somewhere in the middle of the speed range. Can you try a different type of decoder in this mechanism?

Decoder it seems is a ESU LokSound. Will be sending back to Bachmann's as its still under warranty. Just thought I could fix it first editing the speed CV's and thanks Roger have also answered on other forum

Sent back to Bachmann to check it over and now it's back and all is well again. A note to say the motor was replaced. Very quick service a letter received to say they have the loco and could take up to two weeks to repair but pleased to say was gone for 5 days
Cheers Peter

Ohh dear, spoke to soon, problems come back but this time it does it upon pulling away. Going to call Bachmann service tomorrow see what they say. A pity I have spent the last few days applying paint to the body as when it was removed a lot of the EWS yellow lining flecked off and the orange roof line lost some to. I got not to a bad a match with Humbrols railway colours to make it OKish but looks like I will be doing it again if the same happens when it's removed again. Could understand if it was me who fitted a chip and messed up but this is a factory fitted job costing over £220 and it looks very second hand now :(
