A question for all you ELC minded people

Postby sapper_k » Tue Apr 13, 2010 4:08 pm

I have been looking around on the net for a diagram.......

I have just built an automatic reversing unit for DC and im sort of getting into this ELC stuff lol
Now my question.........

Is it possible to make your own DCC decoders that would be compatible with the more common controllers ie hornby or bachmann, if it was possible doeas anyone have a circuit diagram i could go off?

and

Would it work out any cheaper?

TTFN (while i get your cogs wizzing round lol)

Hi
Yes it is possible.

Have you considered looking at the MERG web pages?
You may like to join them (Small annual membership fee applies) and obtain some of their kits etc.
Far easier than trying to DIY IMO :D

Had me going for a minute there...
ELC - Early Learning Centre!

Why build your own, when there are plenty of "other" manufacturers now supplying DCC accessories
Up to now I have been using Digitrax, TCS, and Lenz decoders on my Lenz system
However, after a recent discussion with "Digitrains" I have been shown how to cut some costs that Lenz were basically trying to sell me!

A basic loco decoder can be purchased for just £15 now, five years ago I had to import them to pay that little!
