Hi all ,Justa couple shewing progress so far.First of all thanks Phil for the paint colour guide, but unfortunately it didn,t appear the same green as the Bachmann Jubilee, so I carried on and hopefully got as near as poss.I,ve used the same method of coupling as original but I think i might have to extend the coupling bar by approx 1.5 mm.Also the tender lining from Fox does not cater for this tender but I will reline it.The #Weathered boxed Evening Star dates me.Wife bought it from Beatties at a colossal price of 10.90p Can,t put pound sign as comp is Australian and carries dollar sign.92220 has only been run about 4 times, tender drive

Hi all,Hope all of you are well.Three bank holidays in just over a month Can,t be bad, mind you being an old Fxxx its one big holiday except where the garden is concerned. As shewn elsewhere there are one or two Jubilee loco,s which in my own little way connects me to our son in Oz.I also mentioned the wifes(Never to be seen again pressie) Triang Sydney Rattler.Well ,its happened again.Just happened to see a Triang Oz NSW class 422 diesel(Although it appears to be a BR 51?in disguise)and a couple of the Triang Southern Aurora look-alike coaches. That started it,2 dark blue VR ones now repainted and a set of 3 detached from the Hornby southern Aurora set many moons ago,and all at reasonable cost. There just happened to be a Oz class 44 diesel on E bay which made up the set(Albeit this loco is HO)The proper Aurora coaches are 75ft long(300mm) but the Hornby ones are only 250mm.but heyho I dont, think ill be paying $3,500 oz for a set of 7 the right size.It wouldn,t be a rattler for our anniversary more like divorce papers??.Anyway I have taken out the clear plastic used as windows and used see through seablue/green as the real thing I am waiting to see if a company here(Railtec?)can do transfers for it,providing not too dear. The plastic wheels will be replaced but the bogies retainedAny way just a couple of picci,s to add so all the best Ron

Hi all.Not having heating in the shed.being an old git and liking creature comforts I have not been doing too much but with the arrival of our son from Oz things have taken a bit of a leap forward??Casula models NSW have supplied new bogies for the triang rattlers along with underfloor and interiors which are being fitted ,as we speak?Period transfers and a pair of Tulloch double deck carriages were also brought. As they have Kaydee couplings I am fitting the same to the Triang cars. Each 4 car set has power+trailer+trailer+power and as the Sputnik sets as they were called, ran as mainly 8 car sets.2 xBlack Beetle 28mm x 10.5mm wheeled units drive each set.and I have introduced route indicator fibre optic lights on the 2 outermost cars using pieces from a left over lit Pullman coach. All will be finished in Tuscan red paint, again from OzWhen the units are finished I,ll post some picci,sThe 3rd diesel loco 4201 also arrived, twin motors,The snag was that by using a triple header there were 4 Lima motors operating plus lighting which proved a little too much for my old Duette unit, even with clean track so 2 diesels each way one with4469/42213 and the other way with 4201/42213 So thats the latest .Lastly being an ex -copper it makes me very sad at recent events and condolences to his family and friends. What is the world coming to.??Anyway I hope all you fellow modellers have a great Christmas and Nw Year Cheers Ron

Hi all and a very happy new year to everyone.Sad day as son is now back in Oz starting his 12hr day shift as a paramedic in Sydney.I have the initial picci,s of my first Rattler nearly completed. The one purchased by #The Guvnor# was the standard 3 car Triang unit from Rob at Triang trains UK.He also had a bitsa in his box with cast ali roofs for the power cars,no bogies or pantographs,a complete trailer car as sold by triang but again incorrect bogies.A good exchange was made??I managed to find a pair of original triang pantographs,The bogies ,interior seating extra underfloor parts and decals came from Casula models NSW,very helpful.Th single underfloor plastic moulding fitted to all the triang cars, including the trailer which did not need one, were taken off cut into their respective pieces and reassembled in the correct position.Interior partitions were made from plasticard with door frames after looking at photos provided in a book purchased from Bow River Publishing NSW.The seating had to be adjusted to fit but looked good on completion.the bogies have 10.5 mm wheels and each black beetle motor(One in each power car) also has 10.5mm.wheels conjusive to run on the older Peco100 rail.By using 2 separate parts of an old hornby lit pullman car I have made a plasticard box which has fibre optics(Also from the same pullman)and directional lighting now exists in one power car.The correct bogies for this type of Rattler(Sputnik)are not available so the ones I bought have been slightly altered to partially represent them.Steps were made from 1mm angled brass (Eileens Emporium),soldered and superglued onto the bottom of the chassis.A 1mm hole drilled in the front of the cab and the fibre optic pushed through and painted white or red.The target plate(Unit identification number)is S2 The transfers for numbering are Fox When the 2nd unit is finished(All single deck cars)this will be an 8 car set and separate directional lighting unit fitted to the outer power car.The torpedo vents are big??so 0 gauge fitted but I know now casula have the correct ones Ah well??Hope you enjoy I have!!

Hi all ,started this post and failed somewhere in the system Must be too much rain ??The first set of Red Rattlers have had a couple of extra,s,another set of steps which I had missed on a previous photo and replacing the Triang pantograph heads with something similar to the real ones?I had some sections of Branchlines universal brass roof left over. They are ribbed along their length .Cutting a single piece of ribbing out and cutting it to a pantograph length,Twice.Another piece soldered to give the correct separation and superglued into position. As can be seen the roofs of both power cars are aluminium casting and required a lot of fettling, much more ,no roof??Also shewing the ex hornby pullman light units used as directional.1st unit feeds red and black joined with black and red of 2nd unit hey presto Hope it might be of interestAll the best Ron

I had a similar problem. Windows got corrupted and wouldn't boot.
Soloution....
Get someone to burn you a copy of Linux Knoppix to CD and have a usb key ready, the bigger the better.
Boot pc but stop it from booting into windows by pressing F8 usually (you'll see the chioces onscreen before windows boots if it is another F key) so you can change the boot up sequence.
Change boot up sequence to CD/DVD drive FIRST, this will boot now from the Knoppix CD instead of off the hard drive when you reboot.
So reboot pc with the Knoppix CD now in the CD/DVD drive.
Now, once loaded, (It might ask you which operating system you want to boot to. Choose Knoppix), you will be using Linux Knoppix Operating system LIVE from the CD.
It will let you see all your files, so plug in the usb key and now just select the files you want and copy them onto the usb key.
Once all files that you want to keep are copied onto another device (say another pc off of the usb key) BACK THEM UP ONTO CD/DVD! and put them somewhere safe. I have ALL my back up disks in a large stucco metal covered CD flightcase.

BE WARNED!!!
Every Hard drive and storage device has a limitation on the size of file it can copy. So if you have multiple files in multiple folders that you are try to copy over all in one go and one of the files exceeds this limitiation, the whole copy will be wrong, as you will find some files originally in each folder have not been copied fully over.
So instead of say 50 folders with 100 photo files in each you could be left with 50 folders with say 30 files in 20 folders and the rest empty making the copy incomplete.
Do it in smaller "lots" of files, or if each folder is quite large (1-2GB) try a folder at a time.
And ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS... COPY and PASTE, DO NOT - CUT and PASTE.
And dragging files can also cause problems, even on burnt Re-Writable DVD's. I've had someone wipe a DVD by using the dragging method rather than COPY and PASTE... plonker
Hope it helps.
Thanks
