Perhaps he's the owner of the Subaru that was parked at every vantage point from Oban to Fort William (including the reversal) when someone was chasing our Pathfinder tour last year. It must have been doing some low flying as I'm sure it's tough to beat the train on those roads!

Hi,
Timbersurf.....During photo charters We all travel on the train to the locations then the loco does its stuff before moving on to the next spot!
Bufferstop...... I don t posses a Subaru and even if I did I don't think Id have the bottle to drive it that fast! I prefer to tootle about nowadays to save on fuel!
Anyways, Enough of that.........I had the pleasure of attending a photo charter on the SVR featuring Erlestoke Manor. As she is nearing the end of her boiler ticket I thought it would be a good idea to get some shots of her before she's withdrawn.
If you fancy a browse thru my images taken that day they can be found at.......http://rickeborall.zenfolio.com/p977694512

Hope you enjoy....With regards to all......Rick

Re: RICKS ZENFOLIO WEBSITE UPDATES GCR GALA

Post by RickE »

Hi,
I've had a busy week so I've only just got round to sorting out my images taken at the GCR Autumn gala (Sunday)
Bit sad about not being able to photograph the Standard 5 but it had a bit of a mishap on the Thursday. Its brakes failed as it moved off its train in Leicester North station and it ran into the Buffers. Don't know how much damage was done but Im sure we'll find out soon enough.

Hi,
I'm afraid I've not been up to much photography wise of late. Been lots to do at home worse luck.. When I've had a bit of time to relax I've been converting some images to Black n White again. I know not everyone likes BnW but I do think it works really well with some steam loco shots.
If you do fancy a browse through the collection it can be found by following this link..... http://rickeborall.zenfolio.com/p466845341

Hope you enjoy..... Comments are always welcome....... Regards............Rick

14 & 26 for me. The composition of loco and the post beneath the receding power cables is classic, and the night time depot shop is just full of atmosphere. Colour doesn't help at night!

Cheers guys! Glad you enjoyed.
I did go out to Shilton/Ansty along side the Oxford canal (as the A4 shot in this collection) for Tornado on Saturday but for some unknown reason my Camera just wouldn't focus at the critical moment so I missed it completely. Can't understand it as I had taken 3 other shots prior to that which were fine. Really odd!!! Perhaps it was the cold. It had been snowing! I couldn't even go out for the return as other plans had been arranged for me!

The other shots can be found in my local lines collection for this month. (Not that there's much in it) http://rickeborall.zenfolio.com/recent.html

All the best. And Thanks again for the comments........Rick

Hi,
After a long break away from the lineside I actually managed to drag myself out to take a few snaps of the GCR Winter gala. I decided to go on Friday as the weather was forecast very poor for Saturday. I had planned to go on Sunday as well, but those plans were soon scuppered by unexpected visitors turning up out of the blue which was a shame as the sun was shining more that day than it did on Friday.

To view my efforts from Friday please follow this link..... http://rickeborall.zenfolio.com/p130823800

I have added a few more black n White images to the last collection I posted about way back in November. These and other bits and bobs I've added can be viewed by going to the RECENT UPDATES page on my site.

Regards to all and a Belated HAPPY NEW YEAR........Rick

Hi,
I had the pleasure of attending a Matt Fielding photo charter on the SVR with the LNER B12 loco which was hauling the Tea coaching set. We were very lucky with the weather as it had been raining and very dull for the days prior to the event. I wont say it was wall to wall sunshine but we had a reasonable amount along with broken cloud.
