This is probably for Dave (both of them  ) and the rest of you guys who might have heard regarding the development on 2 37's at Margam.
A few days ago, well last week after 60037,60067 and 60033 left on convoy towards Toton, we shunted 37413 and 37669 from the Knuckle yard to the battery road besides the main depot mainly to keep them away from Vultures who try and gain access to strip for scrap metal  Anyway 37413 in WNSO pool ( sold ews locos stored list from the last tender!) is currently been prepared for movement into Preservation whilst 37669 is also being readied for movement....

Below is the current state on 37413 taken Monday (6th October) evening

Possibly, I'm awaiting the nod from one of my sources about this one - although Adam can probably find out quicker than I can. Our pile of 37s will produce a runner or two *apparently*...don't hold your breath whilst they do that, I think the smart money is on the refurb of the 60s.

Rail Express have already reported that 30 60s are in for heavy overhaul next year. Which 37s are at Eastleigh now- 077,377, 406,410, 416, 417 and 401? With the first two for sale...

413 is definately what we call, ready for cutting! Its being prepared for either haulage DIT or transfer by road and apparently heading i believe up to the Churnet Valley railway however im not 100% sure on that "rumour" so i will get back to you on that one.
412 which was also on the last tender list has been sold to EMR kingsbury and we expect that to be leaving sometime soon again via rail haulage.

669 is being prepared, its currently going through a standard brake test to enable it for DIT and again its for transfer either to Eastleigh or Toytown.

Current 37's at eastleigh are 37077,377,406,410,411,416,422, 425 and 417/401 when they return from railtour duties this month...
And im still surprised that only 1 37/4 (421) is on the new tender list :?
Maybe there's hope left on the 37's at Eastleigh, only time will tell....

Also in the depot are:
58002, 004, 006, 007, 009, 010, 011, 013, 017, 018, 021, 026, 032, 033, 034, 037, 040, 042, 046, 049.

I hope the 37's at Eastleigh are put to good use, at least making one worth running again. If I hear any news I'll pass it on.

Hi Guys,

Sorry i haven't updated this in a while, been a bit busy lately with Work (especially today! ), other hobby's, mainly biking and family committements which has meant i haven't had a great deal of time to upload the pics and place them on here. However here goes from a few pics taken back in January 2009 on a route learning trip to newly reopened Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen line.
66181 stables on the 1 in 40 climb with 25 MEA's in tow, we had to stop and wait for the Network rail guys to set up a temporary block on the road crossing
Image

Here's the NR boys setting up the block...
Image

we arrive at the end of the disposal point, here we uncouple and set off up the line to the reverse point and run around.
Image

One of the shunters uncouples the Train from the MEA rake
Image

And here's our Homemade headboard  on board 66014
Image

and finally this shows the 1 in 40 climb
Image

Thats it for now, more later :)

Good shots! I rather like the perspective in the last shot.

Are you based off Margam- I take it you drive?

Training finished back in October and im now technically qualified and signed to go out on various routes and traction, However has you both know Margam has now officially closed and we're now signing/booking on at the Knuckle yard about a mile up the road. The trouble is even though i've passed, there's a lot of us down there who dont know whether our job is safe or not and the rumour was back in January that around 18 drivers had to go. A few have left on Voluntary redundancy, some have been sacked (mainly 3 shunters) and i believe a few others might be in line to go to other companies, again if the markets dont pick up then i might be the one's going on the "LIFO" (Last in first out) method.
