Jonathan McGurk's Photograph / Website Updates 2010

Postby jonno22 » Wed Jan 20, 2010 10:29 pm

Hi all. I was in Glasgow Central this morning doing a job (part of it). I was also able to capture the rarity of seeing two East Coast HSTs in the daylight at the station. The two HSTs were replacing the usual D.V.T. and Class 91 on the 11.50 service to Kings Cross due to overhead wire problems at Northallerton so it was a bit of surprise that East Coast sent out the rarity. On top of capturing the above, I was able to capture a couple of photographs of the Network Rail Class 950 001 Test Train which was working in and out of the station fo part of the day. All the photographs and more information can be viewed in the links provided below.

PHOTOGRAPHY BIGGY: A Trip Down South From January 2010

Postby jonno22 » Thu Mar 04, 2010 11:21 pm

Hi all. It was my 20th birthday on Friday 22nd January 2010 so myself and a couple of friend decided to travel down south on a road / rail trip for a couple of days which brought some very good photographs opportunities (as you will see below). As always, photographs are taken with permission. Locations include Warrington, Crewe D.M.D., Derby, Chaddesden Yard (Fastline Rail Yard), Toton (from the bank), Barrow Hill, Doncaster Carr Depot, Doncaster station & Doncaster Works (from carpark), Leeds Midland Road (Freightliner Depot) and Leeds station. As well as the many locations there are many and very varied traction types I was able to capture when visiting the locations mentioned.

Hi all. I went upto the top of the N.C.P. carpark in Glasgow Central High Level station to take photographs looking down to where the new platforms 12 and 13 will be constructed. Work is still on going and ballast lays in one big heap waiting to be levelled and rails and sleepers are also waiting to be laid. The two photographs below, taken Thursday 4th March, show ariel views of the on - going works which are being delivered to Balfour Beatty.

Either i'm being ignored or you don't read your own threads.

You have some interesting photos but please can you just post one link to your newest collections on both this forum and UKTS instead of a link to EVERY single picture. I would rather just click the collections and browse rather than go through link after link to each pic. It makes your threads appear daunting for someone who just wanted to view a few pics!

Also, isn't it easier to put the captions on your fotopic site rather than on here? If someone found your site without the use of a forum they would have little idea of each individual working, location etc.

PHOTOGRAPHY EXCLUSIVES: Airdrie - Bathgate Project

Postby jonno22 » Thu Mar 11, 2010 1:23 am

Hi all. On Saturday 6th March 2010 I travelled to certain sites on the what will be the new Airdrie - Bathgate route. The project is progressing well with track now started to be laid at Bathgate and continuing to be laid working from east to west up towards Armadale. I visited various worksites where there is progress being rapidly made, some of these locations include Armadale, Blackridge, Forrestfield / Hillend Loch and many more. Below full information and all of some 40+ photographs can be seen, taken on Saturday 7th March 2010, a lot of which show progress surrounded in snow. Below Saturday's photographs are photographs taken at Edinburgh Park station on Monday 8th March 2010 showing the O.H.L. wires now erected and waiting to be live.

PHOTOGRAPHS FROM SATURDAY 6TH MARCH 2010

Hi all. On Sunday 7th March 2010 I visited Gourock station to capture photographs of
how the station looks at present before any heavy and major construction work begins

March 2010. The refurbishment project is being carried out by Network Rail with a
completion date of November 2010 / early 2011. Below is the link to the Network Rail

Test Train (1Q18) Ayrshire Coastal Wanderings (Pics) Today

Postby jonno22 » Thu Mar 18, 2010 8:46 pm

Hi all. I decided to go out down the Ayrshire coast to grab a few rare photograph opportunities of the Network Rail Mentor Test Train at some locations you wouldn't expect to see such locomotives, like the ones working the test train today. I first travelled to Largs where I was just and no more able to capture a few quick photographs as my passenger train as late arriving into the station and therefore pushed for time as it was heading back out straight away. I travelled to Ardrossan Harbour station also, another rare photographic location for the test train working!. Photographs with full captions can be found in the links below.

Largs - Platform 1 - Class 31 285:

Hi all. On my way home from my day in Ayrshire I visited the site of where the new platforms 12 and 13 will be to capture some more up-to-date photographs to show the progress that is been made. The photographs were taken on Thursday 18th March and can be found:

Looking down into the station from platform 11:

The station arch now sees a concrete foundation below:

Sleepers and rails are stacked up waiting to be laid in the upcoming weeks:

You have some interesting photos but please can you just post one link to your newest collections on both this forum and UKTS instead of a link to EVERY single picture. I would rather just click the collections and browse rather than go through link after link to each pic. It makes your threads appear daunting for someone who just wanted to view a few pics!

Also, isn't it easier to put the captions on your fotopic site rather than on here? If someone found your site without the use of a forum they would have little idea of each individual working, location etc.

I have nothing against him, although it seems his posts are just to advertise his pictures...I do find that his posts are little excessive in quantity and the photos are of average quality, especially for someone who professed to be a freelance photographer with qualifications.
