Indeed it is, although York on that Saturday 7th does have three steam excursions heading to or from it, including the one I am travelling on.

I am glad you liked the bits and bobs of 6201!

Well, 'The Yorkshireman' trip from Watford to York is fast approaching, being on this Saturday. I shall be onboard in the Buffet Car, being hauled by 70013. I am hoping to visit my cousin in York, and naturally we'll be visiting the NRM. Should be a good trip methinks. Of course there will be plenty of photos and videos! Also of 70000 passing through light engine on Friday.

It is now Tangmere, rather than Britannia passing through on Friday. She is passing through Watford at 09:30.

Tangmere was cancelled today, so I wasted an hour and a half waiting for nothing to go through. Never mind. More importantly, here is my schedule for tomorrow's steamy-choo-choo trip to York.

I had an excellent trip from Watford Junction to York and back behind 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' on Saturday 7th May 2011. I will create a specific thread of the trip at a later date, as there are a few NRM photos in there as well. However, I shall wet your appetites by posting the action at Watford Junction.

The Caledonian Sleeper arrives at Watford at about 06:00.

And at Watford in the evening. We arrived about 15-20 minutes late due to a quick splash and dash at Ridgmont which was unschedueled and due to engineering works and signal issues on the WCML inbetween Cheddington and Watford.

Enjoy! I shall be doing a few videos of the trip, and of course there is that other thread to come; so watch this forum!

An historic trip occuring tomorrow. GWR Castle Class 5043 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe' will be heading into Euston, first time a Castle has done so for over 80 years I believe.

She will be passing Watford at 12:36 and again at 17:48. I shall see her first time around, but work will prevent seeing her the second time. I shall however employ my Dad to take evening footage.
Not sure whether I'll view her pass form the back garden, the station or on top of the Harlequin centre. Each has is good and bad points, I'll have to see tomorrow!

Two new 'Steam at Watford Junction' videos. First is 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' on a purely Watford based short version of the longer video. That was on Saturday 7th May 2011.

Second is the historic 5043 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe' run to Euston from Tyseley and back on 'The Great Western Midlander' on Saturday 21st May 2011. This is the first time that a GWR Castle has been to Euston on the WCML since 1926. This can be seen here:

Two forthcoming trips will be graced by my presence. Firstly is a trip to York from Kings Cross behind 'Dominion of New Zealand' which I booked today, that will occur in two weeks from now. The second trip is from Watford Junction to Kidderminster and the SVR a month away; that will be behind 60163. I have yet to book the latter though.

It won't be officially published for another week at least. Although we are leaving KX at about 08:30, arriving at York at about 13:00, leaving York at 17:00 and getting back to KX for 21:30. As I said these are only preliminary times.

Exactly the same tour is being run this Saturday, although that is with RTC rather than Steam Dreams. The times for that ought to be published tomorrow here: http://www.uksteam.info/tours/trs11.htm#twk

Well it looks like I'll be going on three steam railtours in two weeks! 'The Dorest Coast Express' is to be slotted into my two current planned trips. An invitation from forum member Pedanticmongrel was nearly impossible to refuse; a friend from the Model Railway Society I attend went on it and said it was an excellent trip, a good excuse to go on then methought! The trips lineup as follows...

1. Thursday 21st July; KX-York: 4492
2. Tuesday 2nd August; Victoria-Weymouth: Tangmere and 70000.
3. Saturday 6th August; WFJ to the SVR: 60163.

70000 a couple of weeks ago.

When I saw this thread I thought Stanier Moguls, Camels was one of their nicknames, along with 'lobsterpots'.

I hope she has her coupling rods on now though!

Unfortunately the trip on Thursday was cancelled, I received an e-mail and letter from Steam Dreams explaining why:

It is with regret that I write to you today to advise you that we have just been informed by Network Rail that they are no longer able to run our train to York on 21st July. The new timetable brought into effect by Network Rail in June has made it impossible for a steam train to run out of Kings Cross during the week. However Network Rail, who has had our 2011 programme for some time, and have known about the new timetable since last year, have only decided today that our trip is not possible. Having been advised at just six days notice of this issue, we are communicating the disappointing news as soon as possible.

I have phoned them up and have transferred myself onto the trip from Watford to the SVR. I now also have a useless ticket to Euston. So I think I might go into London and visit the British Museum, making it somewhat useful after all.

I had a very enjoyable trip to the British Museum, twas most enlightening. In other news both of my trips next week have been booked up officially. So that is rather good news. Now preparations need to be made!

So what will you be doing when you get to the SVR? Will it be everyone off at Kiddy or continue to Bridgnorth?
