Hi Shaun - I noted that you are resident in the Newcasle area. It was a great area during the steam train era for train spotting. I spent time in my teens on railway stations between Newcastle and York.
I have now spent over 30years in Canada and cannot remember seeing a steam train except on the movies.

Tinsley tmd aka Simon
Wood lane stabling point
small challenge layout on a 4 x 1 baseboard based in sheffield in the 1990,s used to refuel locos on steel traffic out of Tinsley. The layout works with DCC using lenz components.
This layout was built to test my skills of scenery & electronics as i have never completed a layout before.

Hi, hate to be a pain, but thought I should maybe update my spot on the Members' Layouts section, seeing as though it actually works now
Description: My layout is a garden railway in '00' with a run of around 35 yards (a touch over 1.5 scale miles). It features a now completed double track main line loop and a 5-platform station area, though as yet the station itself has yet to be built. This section sits above the return tracks that are on a lower level section, incorporating a holding loop in each direction.
There is also a mail loop for my two operating mail coaches, though I have yet to fabricate a scratchbuilt collection/pick up mechanism. The next major construction will be a branchline that will run out of the shed and follow the main line round the bottom of the garden and join the main station and, thus, the rest of the railway.
The stock I run stretches from pre-Second World War up to around 1980 and is not restricted to a specific region. Immediate tasks to be completed are retaining walls to prevent plummets of 200 scale feet onto concrete and to build a 'permenant' housing for the station controller and power box.

4. My layout is called "Slightly" as it is loosely based on "Saltly" in Birmingham.
It is housed in a 22ft x 8ft shed in my back garden.
I have always liked the shed part of railways with the concentration of loco's awaiting there next turn of duty. My intention is to recreate the atmosphere of a 1970s MPD.
The layout is OO using Peco code 75 track and is operated by a DCC system, Loco's are Blue diesels of the period.

Theme: I don't live in the UK and don't have a particular passion for an area or railway to model. My model is simply a figment of my imagination with only the buildings and trains to give away it's British location. There are 3 linked loops, a few stations and lots of tunnels and bridges.

1. Name: Elscroft End
4. Elscroft End is a modern image, branchline terminus, with two platforms and one head shunt, can cater for a 4 car DEMU or a 3 car + engine formation. The scene is supposed to depict a location close to a holiday village close to the sea. The layout itself is designed so that on the on the end of the fiddle yard I can extend it further, the next part is a long single line, then a final board which will have an island platform in the middle of a passing loop, the last board already in existance, which is a 6 platform main line terminus will connect onto the end of that via a long tunnle, it willl be totally modular so i can connect any middle piece to any other

Just start a thread in the Personal Layouts section, add photos and narrative and invite/await comment.
You have mastered the posting of photos so nothing more to it really!
Ask specific questions in the correct thread, ie scenery, track layout, Hornby etc
Hope this helps.
