Probably sells one at a minimal price, then the next goes for about 60-odd quid.Makes a loss on one, only to get it all back with the next.Mine still seems like a nice price, but it still hasn't arrived yet :?
<<<<UPDATE>>>>
My County class arrived this morning by recorded delivery, which was a bit disappointing, cos it was ended up sent on Friday, but I'd thought it would be posted on Wednesday. Not faulting Royal Mail, but the seller should've notified me.Luckily, the wife was out when he delivered.............

That aside, the model itself is tip-top with no faults to report whatsoever.I'm impressed at how responsive it is & requires very little juice from the control to get it going.
Neat & tidy presentation with a link up like that of the old Castles I have.I thought it would have a pin to drop down through a hole like the A4 but this works just as well.
Mine's running in so I have no idea what it can pull yet,but not a bad effort for about 50 quid.
Still in two minds about renumbering/naming it "1011 Chester" or "1014 Glamorgan",cos I haven't ordered the plates yet. :?

Ah, a 'no brainer' there Phipps : 'Glamorgan' is the only logical choice.

Took you by surprise there Tony, cos I ordered the 1011 "Chester" plates. My logic behind that was Chester was the last one in service & cut up,so therefore may've been stored to be preserved some years later.

Shall I be honest in saying it wasn't the only reason..........The other factor was that repainting half the bufferbeam with a replacement pair of 1's is a damn sight easier than a 14

Finally got around to doing "Chester" on Sunday/Monday.Plates arrived Saturday morning with those of 5619.
Altered the front bufferbeam numbers too.

I have a Dapol one from circa 1990 - County of Merioneth - 1019 in BR lined black - slightly glossy finish.

It can be a good runner - however it is currently stopped due to requiring a new cylinder block - the slide bars having broken. This is the second time this has occurred - on the first occassion Dapol repaired it for me - David Boyle i think! However given it has happened again i am nervous of there being an underlying problem. Has any one experienced the same with either the Dapol or the Hornby versions - as i presume that they are one and the same machine, with no alterations.

Many thanks for any advice

I recently attempted another locomotive review on my blog on the Hornby Wellington School locomotive which might be worth a look if your interested in that sort of thing.

Are the couplers replaceable with other Hornby couplers?

Confession time-I sold "Chester" last summer. But to be fair, although I didn't get much for the whole bundle I sold that included this, this old girl wasn't really running very well....
