Couldnt resist. been looking at them since they came out. But have purchased 5 Railroad Black Shell tankers this morning.

They not too bad at all. feel very much like some older triang plastic stuff. They have plastic wheels which makes them sound plasticy when on the track, so I will upgrade them next week when out and about and have some cash so it doesnt appear on the bank statement :)

Just need another 3 or 4 to make a nice size train. Then purchase some brown colour paint to make em bit dirty i think and remove a few numbers as they all got the same one..

errrrrr been visiting model shops again today. got another three shell tankers and 2 packs of three hole metal wheels (hornby)

The 5 currently on the layout (the ones not hiding in the back of my car till the wifes at work) now have new wheel sets and its such an improvement.

The plastic wheels on them straight out of the box are shocking, but you get what you pay for.. £3.10 - £3.50 a wagon still cheaper than naff old second hand ones on ebay, plus they all match.

Anyone want to come and run the track rubber over my layout for me??

I think you've used the same track plan as me and my grandad on our OO. Ours doesn't have as many sidings and only has one track & and the reverse loop all the way around but other than a few lines removed ours is the same track plan as that.

This is the best photo showing the layout that I can find:

Or this video:

both are a bit out of date mind!

really? It's in an old (pre-me) hornby track plans leaflet. The difference being, technically, there's a turntable in the middle, but we've got the opening too and the turntable near the end of line station.

Great work jon, were did you get your paint from in the end?
the tankers could just do with a little bit of oil spill down the sides to finnish them off.
