Ben's French HO Workbench

Postby bunji » Tue Jun 26, 2007 1:07 pm

This thread will be updated every now and then to let you how the collection's going. I've got vague ideas for a small test layout but as of yet no real planning.

On with the wagons! No prizes for guessing which francophile they came from. :) Click on the pictures to view a larger sized image.

Things to do: Find a replacement chassis for my French loco.

Finally, here's a little ten minute doodle in Flash (I may have been listening to Greased Lightning at the time!)

Salut mon ami!

Bonne chance mon petit!

Tim ;)

PS sorry if the French is a tad rusty. Not spoken it properly for ruddy years :D

Ben

They look at home already! Nice pics, they really show the detail and quality off, you can't beat good continental stock.

I love the Hornby GWR Dunster Station building you used as a backdrop there Bunjinator - most appropriate given where the wagons came from..

For the test layout, I'm leaning towards an urban yard. I'd quite like a setting like Paul Windle's 'Moorton Bottom Yard' - quite run down but still active and well used. Does anyone know if the Petite Ceinture carried post in the steam era?

Ben

The petite ceinture effectivly provided a link between the major Parisian stations, I would think almost any goods were hauled.

Bonsoir mon brave !!
There's quite a good article on Wikipedia.
Do a google search on 'la petite ceinture' - I used Google France.
I can't see any reference to 'post' but you may find other interesting trafic.

Here's a small extract from the article - any problems with the translation -let me know
Ron

Excellent as always, up to your usual standard !!
Now, what happened to the sewage works, or has that been closed for repairs ?
