Terrier's Shed №2 - Now Known as "Forton-on-Sea"
Wey Hey! after years of not really having any space to construct my own layout at home but fortunately being able join a club last year which is cool, my old man is getting a new shed/workshop and i'm going to be able make a board up in his old shed! Only thing i can't make my mind up on is whether to go N gauge or 00 gauge? the space is about 6.5ft by 5.5ft and i've got a blank canvas so to speak.... any ideas or suggestions?

As dedicated practitioner of '00' I can only recommend...'N'
Unless you have plans to run trains outof the shed and into the garden...not that I'm trying to persuade you to or anything...
Seriously though, 6.5 x 5.5 feet is a huge space in 'N'. Just remember to put a hinged section accross the door
Cheers

At the end of the day it is your choice......you probably would be better deciding what type of layout you are going to have before deciding on gauge, I am in the fortunate situation of having an OO layout and an N and I like them both but if I had to choose I would go with whatever fitted space I had to work in best.
If you want long runs and loops for tailchasers then N is your best bet but if you want a yard/tmd/end to end situation then maybe OO is the way to go.
Only you know what you want, the good news is that N gauge is so totally magnificent for detailing, reliability and realism you really do get a free choice...
Good luck!

I'm a OO guy for the simple fact that you can appreciate your locos more than tiny n ones.
