NRM VAN ON TOUR Leg 1

Postby davek » Mon Feb 12, 2007 4:56 pm

New Railway Modellers Van Tour 2007

Finally it's done!
The NRM Van 2007 tour is now go!

Below is a copy of the 'instructions' which can also be found with the van.

  • 1. When you receive the parcel, handle carefully and try not to rip any packaging.
  • 2. Place van on layout/section of track and take a photograph of it.
  • 3. Complete enclosed 'travel document'.
  • 4. Repack model and 'travel document' in packaging. Repair/replace any packaging as
    needs require.
  • 5. Contact next person on list via Personal Messaging on the forum and get their address.
  • 6. Post parcel to that person and post picture of van into the dedicated thread on the forum.
  • 7. Recorded delivery is recommended to guaranteed delivery and security of the van, but it
    is not obligatory.
  • 8. Bask in the glory of being part of a group doing something to unify us all through an
    object we all assocate with!
  • 9. If you want, download your own PDF certificate.

Accidents do happen, if you damage the van in anyway at all, please own up - it's not the end of the world and all things can be repaired. If the van is damaged or lost in post tell us on the forum and we'll sort something out.

We can only claim money back for the loss/damage of the van in the postal system IF the parcel is either sent by Recorded delivery or when sent Standard Parcel rate you ask for a Certificate of Posting (P6159).

See separate thread here for postal list.

A day of great excitement at Marshfield, with the long-awaited visit by the NRM Van ...

25054 collects the van from the depot ...

Image

After a tour of the railway, the van is conveyed away from Marshfield Station ...

Image

A member of the South Wales Constabulary observes this historic occassion ...

Image

The van is hauled under Green Lane overbridge, in preparation for the main event ...

Image

That's right folks, the Shedmaster at Marshfield has turned out the pride of the fleet, not one but TWO Class 50s in ex-works condition ...

Image

This pair of BEASTS take the van on a breakneck tour of the South Wales Main Line ....

Image

The van is deposited back at the depot ready to be sent onwards, but the chargehand is unaware of the van's significance and allocates it for use as a tools van on several dubious freights!

Image

At least the traction is rateable though ... Class 37 then Hydraulic power ... MY LORDS ...

Image

Here the NRM Van is being used on a ... wait for it ... PW train ...

Image

To make amends, the Shedmaster makes an urgent request for a Railtour engine to be diverted ... 55012 CREPELLO does the honours ....

Image

Image

I've been very pleased to accomodate the NRM Van at Marshfield - a rare privilege! Next stop - Mookie in Bristol

Best wishes

Having had no real activity for a while on here, thought I'd go to town and make a video to commemorate the NRM van's visit to Maidenfield:

Went to the post office today to keep the tour running and to send some stuff to Tim, but found that it was too late and it had closed. Oops! Will have to try again on Wednesday.

I have, however, taken a few pictures:

at last i here you say, sorry but had soo many jobs on and didn't get round to going in the attic until today...
nrm van continues its tour...
waiting to be collected;
Image
here we go;
Image
rolling around to the mainline;
Image
pauses for the points to change;
Image
Image
after turning around the train arrives;
Image
and the station becomes quite full;
Image
but there's only one thing that's of any interest and soon a small crowd has developed;
Image
"please sir, can i go in the cab?"
Image
moving off the train rolls through the country station;
Image
many years pass yet still the van has not aged!;
Image
waiting at teh station...;
Image
before it's off again;
Image
for a final job;
Image
great fun, great to be part of it.
thanks
michael

OK here they are - apologies for the lack of scenery still :oops: but at least the track is laid (although about to be ripped up and replaced!) and the van actually got a run out around all three loops of the layout.

Am trying to put together a video although not to the standard of Waz it should look ok!
