Perhaps I can be corrected but I haven't been able to find any information on LNER and LMS lines really crossing over. Although I love your premise, lets go with that!
As a quick story born and bred Australian, though Scottish heritage, I never had any real world experience with British railways but had an interest from a young age. When I was very young my grandfather took us to see the Flying Scotsman as she came through on her world tour. That concreted for me an interest in the LNER that never left me.
When I was 8 my parents built me a 6x4 roundy round with a new at the time Hornby LMS 0-4-0 Pug. I played with that little engine so much Ive totally worn the wheels out and it rocks and waddles horribly now. I still have it and must put another chassis under it or at the least change the wheels. But that also gave me much interest in the LMS railway.
