Just a couple of photos of the area used to play with the trees...

Now Magoo wants to go further with the diorama so it's trees must go to a temporary place so the area remains clean for work. There is no place left home where to let the trees until they get glued in place on the diorama so the only alternative was my home layout...

ImageIMG_0001 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

... so I gave it a bit of a cleaning and set the trees there as gests...

Once the work on the diorama is done most of the trees will be moved there and a serious rebuilding of the layout will came.
When?
When I feel the urge to do it, of course!.

Well, as you have seen in previous post, the Island of the Walking Trees (Île Du Présent") has got the visitors from the diorama. This morning while still dark, I took a nother series of photos under an a bit better lighting...

Apart of a different camera, the floating market has had periods withg a different type of trees...

ImageP1850485 by d.caso, on Flickr

By the, the water was not modelled yet and the figures wheren't hidden in a box because the pandemic...

ImageP1850511 by d.caso, on Flickr

... and even my first version of Weeping Willows had a try...

ImageP1850398 by d.caso, on Flickr

Afterwards I think it is time to do a new intent at modelling weeping Willows and ensure there will be at least three or four nice ones at the top of the low retaimng wall behind the (to come) floating market...

This is something else but too nice to let aside:

Two different modeling adventures at the local arboriculture specialist in Île Du Présent:

The first one was made using a smooth branch which came fron India and for simulating the coarse bark acrylic modeling paste with acrylic colour added.
For the tthiun twigs I used a very rough weeds that picked up during a couple of 'dedicated' long walks through Amsterdam.
The weeds grow only where there is enough concrete, cement, bricks or every industrial or building area. Most frequently it appears growing through the craks in the joints of building's walls with the sidewalk or between the sidewalk edge and the asphalt.
I treated it with glycerin two years ago and ik keeps all it's really amazing strength.
My surprise was to find accidentally that a couple of other plants from the same batch that I forgot to set into the glycerin bath are exactly as flexible, and strong as the treated ones after the two years.
The only minus point is that if I want to model a dozen or so of such treest I'l better my hicking shoes and have a rest after every half an hour walking. Not because walking would be so exhausting but because doing it constantly searching at those joints and always at the same side (for some stupid regulation people build all houses at the same side of the sidewalk! :x ) will be noticed by your body and VERY specially your neck and back. Certainlky with Magoo's eyes, always using more the neck than the eyes to see small things!

The other new tree has a handcarved Balsa trunk as I've made for the Paper Birches but this time heavilly coloured with pastel powders fixed with cheap hairspray.
The folliage is the very best commercially availble and are treated and sold by ER Decor. I have used this extensivelly since ten years ago and still think is the very best product available of it's kind.

If we were 1/32 scale sized and standing more or less near the tree we would see it more or less so:

Walking a bit away of it we would see it so:

ImageIMG_0010 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

but from a distance -now scale doesn't matter at all- the tree would look sso:

I forgot to mention but I assume some of you have noticed: all branches are tomato's!!!

Thank you, Ex-Pat.
Nice to know you like the tree.
Don't blame me for the fingers: it was Magoo holding it while I was busy with the camera and he moved just in the wrong moment.

Finally, the monastery that you have seen at the background of the layout is going to be completed.
The windows, which were only pressed in place while waiting for this day (for a few years) will have their glasses and curtains in the next days.
For now I've been adding some greenery here and there. The windows will probably be installed tomorrow.
The building also still requires some work, especially on the roof and surely on the ridge ...

I had no intention to resume work on the monastery yet but on Monday and Tuesday I have been working a bit on my kitchen 'garden' ...

ImageIMG_0030 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

... and that provided some materials that brought back to my attention an old experiment (then with another plant but more or less same result):

ImageIMG_0058 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

ImageIMG_0059 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

I've found also an old dry leaf under the warming radiator...

ImageIMG_0060 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

ImageIMG_0061 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

ImageIMG_0063 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

and that reminded me the monastery windows withour curtains...

ImageIMG_0064 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

ImageIMG_0065 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

The material from the leaf has not been treated with Glycerine but UI thing it won't need that. It is totally dry but still a bit flexible and very strong...

ImageIMG_0068 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

ImageIMG_0070 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

ImageIMG_0071 (2) by Daniel Osvaldo Caso, on Flickr

Later, with the glasses in place and may be (not sure yet) a bit of airbrushing so the acrylic inkt in order for the painting to match the color of three of the four curtains, the fourth (one of the row of three, not the separated one) will have a faded color to suggest that it is older.

Now I remember I must have a box full of such curtain material but treated with gycerine...
