Specially for those with a small space for a layout and certainly if your scale is smaller than this 1/32.
THE CONCEPT
Inaitially it would be built in three approx. 0,60m X 0,50m sections because would be sent by post to the UK and by then (2016/17) those where the biggest boxes the Dutch post would handdle without asking science-fiction posting costs. But soon, the future owner decided it would be worth to hire a small van and come to Amsterdam and pick it up personally so the three sections became a little bigger and one piece.
This was the track plan scheme:

A 500mm gauge line serving the remains of an old factory turned into narrow gauge museum which would justify any mix of locos & rolling stock.
The factory building (at the right end) would hide a sector plate able to handle a whole (short) train and move it from thge scenicied area to the passing track at the rear hidding under the landscape.
Through that passing track trains would be able to reach an also hidden turntable at the left end and, again, capable of handling comnplete trains and make them emerge from the 'tunnel' to reac h the scene again.
Not too complex and easy to operate: the sector plate with a special pull/push handle at the layout's front (the sector plate needing only two stops was not an issue) and the turntable operatred through another handle (Meccano worm/gear components) also at the layout's front.
All switches (handmade at request by John Vogelaar) were 16,5mm gauge and 200mm radius and were handoperated through CABOOSE Ind. (US) sprung "Ground Throws".

Because all locos were going to run under RC and sector plate and turntable were handoperated there was not wiring needed at all except for scenic purposes.
A small removable harbor section with some ship would be added.

As I've mentioned before in my other thread, I like to make plans but like even more modifying them so you will find a lot of changes to the initial idea as construction progresses... and, of course, traces of it:
This was going to be the factory building entrance (to the sector plate):

The basic material I use for the buildings is foam in many of the available versions from this type found in 1/1 scale building materials shops:

to all the other types found at hobby shops and among packing materials.

With such a small available space for an 1/32 scene, one must take care of getting the best one can of every square millimeter:

More later.
