Younger Granddaughter here for a couple of days.

She had 47583 County of Hertfordshire running.

She wanted a picture of 'her shop'.

The fact all the girls born in our family are called Julia doesn't enter into it.

Having spent a week eating hospital food because of Covid 19 and now recovering (slowly) trains have not been run.

Two days ago we had more than a months rain in a couple of hours. Flood damage in the town was on a large scale. The train room was damaged somewhat. Clarence Dock was damaged most.

The bridge forming the circuit was also damaged.

Temporary repair work was carried out today. Hopefully when fully dry the bridge will look okay. If not I do have some card to make a new bridge.

Now to see to Clarence Dock

What rotten luck you've had, at least you're recovering, quite a few people I know have had covid recently, fortunately all have had the jab but I think a lot of people are thinking it's gone away and stopped taking the simple precautions.
Get your layout sorted then sit back, relax and watch the trains go by.

Fortunately I managed to cover the area once the water came in. Not much was damaged. Mainly the cardboard buildings will have to be replaced. A small price to pay.

I know I wanted a after the rains theme at Clarence Dock with puddles; 1-1 weathering works.

Some drying out and trains have been run successfully.

The 'ghosts' were in answer to my American railroad friends. They run an annual 'Halloween Competition'. No prizes. Just good fun.

The 'puddles and wet ground' is quite simple. The idea came from P.D. Hancock of Craig & Mertonford fame.

Clear varnish with a thin piece of plastic over forms the puddles. Clear varnish on the ground in patches; giving a wet ground that is drying in places. Darken everything with a black wash to give the overcast feel after rainfall.
