When the new curve to Sovereign Street was built the land between Glencairn Scholarsgate Station and the line behind North Road was rather bare.

As the area should be overgrown with grass etc. here is the result.

Life goes on oblivious to the Class 47 47583 'County of Hertfordshire' passing behind. Driver Les Moore of Smith of Maddiston Ltd is delivering to Harrison Wildlife Management. Driver John Thompson is still unloading his wagon.

Class 47 47299 'Ariadne' trundles through Glencairn Scholarsgate Station on an oil train from Aberdeen. The wagons actually belong to my son. (He left them here) :)

Having lived within a rural community wildlife was often seen.

A bird has landed on the fence. Has it seen something my son (on the quad bike) has disturbed?

It must be something. Another bird has landed on the signal post.

Before the time when dogs have to be on a lead, the local Postman would have one or two dogs follow him on his round.

Here, two dogs take a minutes breather whilst Pat Clifton the Postman delivers a package to Mr Green.

Not much done modelling wise, but here are a couple of pictures of the previous running session.

As I have been involved in road transport virtually all my life, transport lorries and vans feature all over the layout. Two firms I have grown up with most (talking to the drivers and management) are W A Glendinning's of Shotley Bridge, Consett and Archbolds Storage & Distribution, Gildersome, Morley, near Leeds.

On the layout I have a warehouse that combines the two Companies, Archbold & Glendinning, Storage & Distribution. To compliment the scene I have three W A Glendinning wagons, but no Archbold vehicles ------ until now. I have made two vehicles out of old models that were playworn by my children & grandchildren. To finish them off I shall put the Gildersome telephone number on the cab doors. I hope D.K. (Archbold) approves.

After reading about railways in Fife, the name Glencairn Scholarsgate has gone. The new name of the station is Glenburnie. The track plan is the same, but I hope to add some individuality to the proceedings.

A new history is written on page 1

Any old photos mentioning Glencairn Scholarsgate please read Glenburnie instead. :)
