As previously mentioned. on the layout Kirkstall & East Seacroft Railway Co run trains to Barnbow Munitions Factory. Looking at further information, not only was it staff and munitions that entered and left the factory; they had their own farm. Cattle and horses were there.

Kirkstall & East Seacroft Railway Co have acquired a cattle wagon and is on its way from Earlsheaton Junction.

It should arrive tomorrow.

The trouble when the son arrives and takes a liking to a building or two!

Somehow Winterwood Manor has appeared on his layout and he left me this?

I shake my head in bewilderment.

The only saving grace (if there is one) at a recent model show my granddaughter bought me (with my money?) the car.

A busy time in the factories. Lights blazing as the night shift is nearly ending.

The early morning Leeds, Scarcroft & Wetherby Rlwy passenger train has arrived at Sovereign Street.

As mentioned previously, Britain were preparing for the eventuality of a war in 1909. Ambulance trains and preparations for casualties were being made.

Here are medical staff with a couple of 'casualties' in training.

Some interesting lighting there Glencairn!

I mean, red lights are fairly universally understood, but purple? And turquoise?

Trains pass at Sovereign Street. The passenger coach behind the Leeds, Scarcrft & Wetherby Rlwy engine is a repainted 'Clarabel' from the Thomas the Tank range.

The breakdown crane built by my so thirty something years ago still runs, but is in need of a repair or two. Another job on the list.

Throughout this pictorial of 'Sovereign Street' I mention Barnbow Munitions Factory and it's 'Lasses' who worked there.

Now the site has all but gone and is to be a housing estate. I now understand Bellway Homes, builders on part of the site have its street names chosen in tribute to the women (the ‘Barnbow lasses’) who died in an explosion at the nearby Barnbow munitions factory during WW1 – including Ethel Jackson Road, Amelia Stewart Lane, Jennie Blackamore Way, Maggie Barker Avenue, Olive Yeates Way and Ada Glassby Court.
