Great minds think a like! I'm doing a detailed interior for my shed too, all based on pics I took back in the 80s at open days and depot visits - like the soldering for pipes idea - very clever tip. Keep up the great work!

Not really an update on a grand scale but I've been adding some longer grass to the layout using paintbrush bristles. It's taken a while to find the colour I wnated but I think it's been worth the wait. A couple of overhead shots too.

It's not purpose made grass, they're bristles cut from cheap paintbrushes. They work pretty good but cutting them off makes a mess sometimes.

Love the 3rd picture down. Shots from ground level always show the best of long grass and weeds among track
How long has my sleeve been in the PVA...

The shots with the FL 66 look really realistic. Excellent job on the grass!

Thanks. They were done using acrylics before the track was laid. I'm in the process of doing the track for the other side of the layout so if you like I'll get some pics of it before it's been ballasted.

A couple more pics. Two more decoders came today so the 08 can now join the DCC fleet.

That 08 looks brilliant MetCam!
In my opinion the outer bits of the grass clumps would look better slightly more upright. Far more detailed than I could manage though!

Thanks :) I've improved the technique for the other bits of the layout since that part as that grass was the first to be laid.

Update- more on the practical than scenic side the removable board section is almost done! Track has been cut at the joins, bus is wired and the hardest part, the curved join is laid and with ballast drying. Should get more done tomorrow.

Also been having a go at the shed interior with some roof beams made to have lights fitted and some struts on the door backs.

Lastly my order from Express models has arrived and the 142 lighting kit will be underway soon (as soon as I buy a 1 mil drill bit). For now though it has the Kadee no. 5's fitted.

Looking forward to seeing you light up the 142s

I gave that paintbrush idea a bash on my layout this week... Fiddly but the end result is nice.

I'm now actually toying with gluing the paint brush down bristles first and then cutting them to length once it's dried... Being that things are all the more fiddly for me in N Gauge.
cheers, Mark.

That was how I was going to do mine but it kept falling over :( I think I'll do a step by step for the 142 lights or at least take lots of pics as I couldn't find a single decent one when I was thinking about buying mine :x

Class 66- the shed is by Peco, think it was called "modern train shed" or similar. Is easy to build and can have extra kits added to widen or lengthen the shed. It also had walkways ontop but I left them off mine.

Update- ballast seems to be drying, at least enough for a run over with the Pacer that's shown the rails to be covered in PVA :( Will need to wait for it to dry solid then get out the dreaded Turps...
