Hi everyone,
Bit of a change of plan as i don't have the needed resources get to build the roundhouse roof and the track for the laying of the branchline! Also i think I'm going to get the village kits for Christmas as I've decided I'm going to use metcalfe village scenery. I'm going to leave that for the moment until I buy the resources.
So that all leaves the overall roof station. That's going to be the project for this week.(or whats left the week).
I've done the research and now I'm into the planning and building stage (making ashburton) .
If anyone has any ideas/comments on how to build /what materials to use it would be ever so helpful.
Here is the Forum thread for my Branch line station build:

Just a quick update! The Balsa wood and card are arriving tomorrow and monday.Hopefully I can find the right paint for the edges ( my brother should have it somewhere or at least know what it is )I'm going to build the base out of card and then cover the outside with wood and for the edges use a thinner card to create the different colour wood edging (if there's not enough balsa wood left)
Regards
Samuel

Very good. Are you modelling the station at ashburton as a whole or just the canopy?

Hi,
I'm going to model Ashburton as a whole with perhaps a few a adjustments where needed to cater for the 009 guage slate delivery track. the plan for the actual building is to make a base of bodyguard and then cover it in thin strips of bal sa
wood to create a wood effect! :)

Thanks

Its a nice plan to model. Should be most enjoyable. I look foward to seeing your progress. The 009 will add some interest for sure. Sounds like a solid building plan for the canopy as well.

Hi everyone,
Here's a quick progress report:
With the overall roof line station I have etched the smaller plank lines in
New plans are coming/ being worked on soon on the Branch line
The loft is freezing so not much can be done up there
Also increased homework this week has set me back a bit

Hi Samuel19

Looks like you've made a great start there. You seem to have a lot of space in the loft.

I look forward to your progress on the station buildings

Thanks

Hi everyone,
Here is a picture of the station so far :)
I've been experimenting with various humbrol and Revell colours to see which is the best cream type colour for the wood on Ashburton.
Does anyone know what is the best colour modelling paint is for this?
Thanks

Looks good what your doing there. It depends on the colour your going for but a little variation between the planks looks ok to me.
If you cant find a colour you want you may have to mix one. Aerosol cans are magic for large areas also then you can just come back and grey wash and weather etc.
