All your efforts are sure paying off. Now you get to watch trains running over the bridge... in the distance. That must surely add another layer to your running sessions.

Dublo have you tried any other medium with your moulds except plaster?
I was pondering last night, I wonder if your could make a flexible casting, for say flexible curved walls.
Once taken out of the mould you could create curves with it as you see fit.
Something like this perhaps.
Image

I don't know what the medium would be to use as, although flexible, it would need to be solid enough not to move once it's glued down and not compress if something was placed on top. Flexible platform walls for instance, which would need the platform tops to sit on top and level.

Just my usual meandering thoughts and wonderings.
Thanks

Hello all
Little Weldon as never seen before.
Yesterday was Little Weldons annual spring clean. Firstly all Locos and Stock were removed, followed by the loose accessories. The remaining buildings were then Paint brush cleaned, the track work was then given a really good clean. The next stage was the Hoover with several layers of Stocking covering the nozzle. Paint brush dusting and replacing of accessories came next, followed by cleaning and oiling all locos and stock. I now have a very sparkly clean layout. It did take six hours though.

It's a shame the forum moves so much slower now than it did a few years ago. I see your castle opened over a week ago and no comments yet! My apologies I have been busy finishing off the Millennium Falcon I was part way through building so I could start on Lemmington docks and hence have not been kicking around the forum. On to tug boat building tonight.

Your castle ruins are fantastic! The scenery came up exceptionally well. I really love that shot of the ruins on that dirt covered hill side with just the right amount of grass patches and lichen.

Also looking fantastic after your spring clean but 6 hours! Wow. Layouts do get impregnated with dust though I suppose. It's really brought all the colours back out well. Lovely job all around!
Cheers,
Josh

There was an article in the Railway Modeller many years ago on making "flexible rock faces" the method was to make a mold with natural "fault lines" with some kind of fabric netting pressed into the back. If you don't know the technique I'll look it out for you.

Hello all
This weekend saw the first trains running on Little Weldon since last October. After last weekends spring clean everything ran like a dream a few enjoyable hours was spent just watching the trains go by. Weldon castle has certainly added a new dimension to the layout watching trains travelling through the new landscaping has made the layout seem much bigger.
Recently I have bought several sets of Master Model figures all cast in Mazak which are in need of repainting, they are currently soaking in Dettol to remove any remaining paint.

You may have to wait until after the lockdown.

Dublo. My thoughts are that your layout along with PNP's and a few others would look excellent in pages of one of the model railway magazines like the Railway Modeller or a mgazine like that.

Another thought I had was that I used to be a member of a model railway society when I was in my late teens, and they used to meet in a large building where they had a large 00 gauge layout being around 60ft x 30ft and one entered the building by going up into the layout so there were no flaps to lift, and they had a smaller 0 gauge layout which was around 30ft x 30ft. That dis have to have a flap to lift. Unfortunately the rent was increased a few years later and so they found a new premisis but their new premises they had free as long as everything was put away afterwards, (Nothing permanent allowed), though I only went the once as it was a bit too far for me as it was in a new location, but my point is that before they had their first club building, they were meeting at each others houses and saw each others layouts. They would all go to one persons layout one meeting, and the nexr another persons layout etc.
In those days everyone could trust each other and so there was not an issue. It is sad today that some are light fingered because I had a thought that it would be lovely to see peoples layouts and for them to see mine (Though I have to get cracking and get a lot of work done for mine to be seen! It is no where near that stage yet. But I suppose that maybe it can still be seen as it is? No idea! Haha). But in theory the idea would be nice as there are some lovely layouts and also others can help each other etc if needed. It is just a thought for an ideal world.
