Great, Dan you're on the list !!

It will be a unique wagon - Painted up from
a Dapol unpainted Gunpowder Van. If it were a
full size van, fully loaded we all know where it
would be bound .........

I couldn't keep the van a secret .... BUT can you work out the hidden
meaning in it's running number of 6162.

Here with one half of the red X painted on - The masking didn't work
too well and still wet. Hope to do the second half tomorrow. Then to
put on NRM decals and the running number. Saturday is still the planned
1st posting date, but it'll be tight.

I'll probably feel stupid when you reveal the answer but presently the number isn't ringing any bells for me.

I like the livery though. You mentioned NRM decals to apply. I had been thinking of applying a small Galgorm Hall decal to it marking its visit - much like the destînation stickers of old on trunks - but must seek approval first. 8) Perhaps space would be too limiting for this but wanted to throw it out there.

His name will be 'Guy' ...... A gunpowder van ?
Think not alpha numerical, but numerical alpha.

The NRM will be small in white on the red block at
both ends only, a side label should be fine.

Geoff you can certainly count me in for a visit, the old tours certainly generated the feeling of being part of an online "community." Did you get anywhere deleting the old tours? I won't be searching to see if they've gone, three foot thick stone walls make the internet an "interesting" experience. We are just round the corner from the base of Knaresborough viaduct close to "The World's End" pub. Keep finding bits from the layout of that name.

I'm surprised at no guesses as to the hidden meaning in 6162.
Still here it is, decals still drying out. As I shall be running a
layout all day Saturday I'll have to post out on Monday.
PM sent to carnehan for postal address.

Could do with some varnish to seal the decals in when fully dry
which is about 24 Hrs. Then perhaps just a little light weathering.

Now that could be a never ending list. Presently, I'm sure we would happily see one of these wagons trailing a lit fuse to roll up alongside Photobucket Towers!

Hi Dave,

We've had std merchandise vans, tanker, open, coach, so there had
to be something different (And it was in stock). my eyes are stinging
from first identifying the 11T decal, then working with it, like cutting
it out from a white paper decal sheet. Not my best effort, but as you
say it's not taken long.

carnehan, you're spot on, but the simple code is 3 letters of the alphabet
representing the start of each word. Probably best just to use the three
letters - no bad language here ! So the letters are ?

Hi manna,

The actual meaning will be with the wagon.

carnehan, All packed ready for posting tomorrow. I didn't get
around to weathering the chassis & lower van body as to me
getting this moving was the priority. In fact we've done quite
well considering the project was only suggested on the 5th
of this month and the vans been painted & decalled.

Well done Geoff and everyone else who has got this underway so quickly. I take it as, this being a thread for posterity, we should upload these to NRM as attachments, even if we have our own functioning hosting site.

Looking forward to receiving it. Perhaps I'll get time to give it a light weathering when it arrives.

Ahh Bufferstop,

While I'm at it so to speak, I noticed a thread at the start of one section telling New members
how to post photographs. Any chance you can delete all reference to PB and explain size limits
and how to get into the NRM system.

I'm off to continue sorting out my threads 500 pictures replaced but well over a thousand, perhaps
up to two thousand still to do. Just think of the time span and size of Castell Mawr !

Paul, feel free to enhance. I suppose I should change that title to the 2017 '00' Tour.
