Simple figure eight layout

Postby Beynac » Sun May 07, 2017 6:42 pm

Hello folks,
this afternoon, I built a very simple figure eight layout with Trix H0 C-track. I also used a Marlin diamond crossing slightly modified for DC. The dimensions are: 1.56m x 0.92m. The first run of a Hornby 0-4-0 is a success. So I'm very happy with the result. More pics later...if you want them. :)

Do you have any ideas for scenery?

Not yet. But I'm working on it. My very simple track plan:

You can build it with the Hornby track too:

The internal looped 8 takes a little more width, but overall uses a smaller area.

Getting the outer loop to close was not a trivial problem.

I changed my track plan a little:

My baseboard is a little bit short for my new track plan but I'm working hard on this problem.

The crossing wasn't really flat. So I slightly modified it with two additional nails. My Hornby 0-4-0 doesn't like this kind of bump on the track.
