Re: Kerluk's layout
Moving on from the last track plan idea with an island platform, how about 2?
I wonder if you could fit this in?
Excuse the crude diagram.
Thanks

Re: Kerluk's layout
Being an 0-4-0 fan I always use electrofrogs these days, but I've run them through set track points in the past. The track needs to be very carefully laid, check that the locos don't rock when stood on the frog. If their small wheels fall into the gap as they cross cut a thin sliver of plastic card and glue it into the bottom of the gap. Then if necessary file it down until it just supports the wheel without bumping as it passes through. Clean wheels, pickups and track are essential. The basic Hornby 0-4-0 isn't the best for dead frogs as it's gear ratio is low meaning the motor is turning slowly and has no hope of any flywheel effect to keep it going. It performs better on DCC where "stay alive" provides a little help. The little Sentinels and the Peckett with higher gear ratios would be a bit better. Be wary of cheap 0-6-0s many have traction tyres or reduced diameter centre wheels turning them effectively into long 0-4-0s.
Growing old, can't avoid it. Growing up, forget it!

Re: Kerluk's layout
Hornby make beautiful 4 wheel coaches that would be ideal for that type of layout. Some where I have two or three Great Western versions along with a track cleaning coach I painted up to match as it is also based on the same coach.
Re: Kerluk's layout
Many thanks gentlemen for all your replies.
I slightly modified my track plan, as you can see:
The double station layout needs too much money at this moment but it still a good idea.

Re: Kerluk's layout
I changed my mind a little bit...
I ordered 08 Peco ST-226 and 02 Hornby R600.

Re: Kerluk's layout
How about a set of points or two to be able to move between the ovals?
Re: Kerluk's layout
It will be another step.
Re: Kerluk's layout
I ordered another Hornby R2672 0-4-0 steam locomotive in Caledonian Railway blue. It will be my second steam loco for my double loop layout.
Re: Kerluk's layout
A little update: I got my Peco track and my steam loco.
A really nice and cute loco. The Peco track is better than the hornby stuff. I built the big loop and and put my 0-4-0 down the track. It runs perfectly at every speeds. I like this teapot !

Great video music!!!!!
If you haven't already, don't forget to invest in a Peco track rubber to help keep you loco running smoothly.
if you don't misplace it, it will last for years

Such as the Lima class-20.
Its traction tyres turn a Bo-Bo into an 0-4-0.

Thanks gentlemen. The little loop is on its way:

No problem at all for me. I only want to run 0-4-0 !

That's nice running.
