Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.
I fitted my new Hornby Class 66 Capt. Tom Moore with the Hornby TTS sound decoder today. I replaced the Hornby speaker with a Zimo LS40x20x09 Optimised "3D" Speaker - 80hm - 1Watt. The speaker came from YouChoos - it took about ten minutes. It really does need lights?
This was straight out of the box - it would probably benefit from an hour on the rolling road.

Lighting kit is in the post.

Belisha beacons, taxi roof lights and street lights now working. I now need to add some lighting to the buildings - and may be the bus

Wonderful stuff, the lights looks fantastic. Maybe I'll be brave and add some to my next layout...

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.
Many thanks for the comments. I have now added some interior lighting to the shops, however it needs toning down a little, and I have some interior backscenes that will add a little depth. The lighting circuit for the shops, taxi lamps and street lights is 12v switched through a voltage regulator (dimmer switch?), if the voltage is reduced to much, which is great for the shops, the belisha beacons stop flashing - so may need to add some sort of diffuser to each LED in the shops - still thinking about that one. Also thinking about lights in the bus!! BB

Re: Wykeham - Somewhere in the South.
Thanks Pete - Fitting the lights has been a bit of a fiddle, it really is a job to be done when constructing the buildings. I used some very small pre-wired LED's that came on a small paxoline plate with a built in resistor - so hooking up to a 12v supply was no problem. I used two strips of copper tape along the ground floor of each building and soldered the LED's to the tape. A pair of wires soldered to the tape drop down through the board, where I have an "L" shaped 12v dedicated "bus" made from copper rods - each arm is about eighteen inches long. Everything is attached to that. Each rod has suitably spaced red or black heat shrink so as I don't solder anything to the wrong rod. All seems to work ok - the power runs through a voltage regulator switch - so I can turn the brilliance down. BarryRailwayRobbo wrote:The lighting is excellent. Very effective.

I'm in the process of wiring up the lighting for my station. It is a fiddly job but well worth the effort I think. Yours looks great.

It is worth it in the end BrightonMan - just takes a bit of time.

I managed to get some lights into the bus - fiddly job, probably would not do again.
