Lode Lane in the spare room

Postby alanp » Tue Mar 01, 2016 10:52 am

Hello all! I am a long term reader of this forum, but first time contributor. Thought I would start to document progress on my 00 gauge layout. This is the first time I have been able to build a permanent layout since childhood - and luckily I now have access to a spare room! First a few pictures of baseboard construction last year. Space is a good size at 11' 10" x 8' 5" :D

Welcome to the forum Alan, one of the fortunate ones who has an indoor, comfortable, modelling space. My modelling went up a couple of notches when I acquired a similar space. Looking forward to seeing the layout develop. Does it's name betray an affinity to a certain type of 4x4 ?

Hi Alan

Great start, it brings back memories of when I had a space similar in my nans house and I built my baseboards almost identical to yours.

Oh for the luxury of an indoor room ......
My loft may be kind of O.K, but this is utopia in comparison.
Good to see you posting 'action' shots, that looks like a Diesel
layout ? or am I taking too much from one loco ?

Hi Geoff - yes, it is a luxury long time coming!

The loco is a good old class 73 electro diesel in Network Rail yellow :D The layout will be loosely based on the railways as I have know them, from the late 80's up until present day. Although I have a good few steamers needing to stretch their legs too...

Hi there Alan.
Looks like a promising start you've got there, have you made any progress since then?
Be good to see if you have...
Jas...... :D
