That really does look good. Only thing it needs is either the odd lorry or car, or something piled in a corner. No doubt the little details will be added. I really like it.:)

More exemplary work Jim, I’m guessing those are the Wills granite sets you’ve used?

Yes Paul, Wills Granite Setts as you say. Took quite a few, but sometimes
it's worth pushing the boat out, found some online at a good price,
so I took the plunge and bought them. Glad I did now as they do look
good once painted and weathered. Bit of a job trimming and sanding
but worth the effort.

Once the lorries and vans have moved in, it should look a little better.

Managed to more or less finish the Goods Depot and Yard. Moved
the British Railways fleet back in to add that splash of colour (maroon & cream).

The look I was trying to achieve is shown below, a busy large goods yard with
plenty going on.

I still have to wire the yard lights and also do some work at the left hand end
of the yard, which is mainly for lifting containers on and off and storage really,
I will get to that another day.

A few pics of the yard, now with vehicles.

Jim!! :o Wow, wow, wow, I have been following your progress with eager anticipation and have got to say that it all looks amazing. When I saw the pic of the yard with all the vehicles in it I was just beaming! Before I changed eras this was one scene I wanted and you have done a Great job.

Jim

Lovely stuff, its just the sense of scale you achieve, such ambition.

I've just read back almost your entire thread, there are some treats hidden away there, we could do with a retrospective, I particularly like the shored up end of terrace, and somehow missed the parish church entirely.

Always a pleasure to look in and see the progress.

TimberSurf; The vehicles have been purchased over many years
and scattered about the layout, much nicer having them in a place
with purpose.
Coops; Glad you like how it's turning out, I am as pleased as punch to be honest.
Pete; It's size is what seems to give it realism, this goods depot is far more industrial
looking than my last effort, I'm chuffed you enjoyed browsing back on my posts.

Not much to show today, I gave the water tower a good weathering this morning
ready to go on the layout tomorrow. (I was lucky Jim (Luckymucklebackit) my Dapol roof wasn't warped)

Happy how the scratch built base turned out, gives it a slightly different look.

I think I am echoing other sentiments, but I really like the yard with all the vehicles and the sense of 'busy-ness' as it adds a different realistic dimension to the layout, Additionally, it comes together with the grimy brick colours as well rather than a pristine building. Great weathering!

Quite phenomenal Jim - but where are the Scarab-spotters bunking the yard?!

I simply can't come to terms with the speed at which you produce your masterpieces - surely there can be nothing left to do?

Thanks Jim, Eastern and Ex-Pat for your comments.
Jim; I noticed you had managed to straighten the roof, just need to route the ladder now.
Ex-Pat; No spotters at present  Plenty to do around the layout here and there,
improving past work where I can. Short term, ballasting the yard sidings is next.

The yard lights are now wired and working, also today I tested power supplies and clearances on the internal
and external lines using my trusty Black 5, which all worked well with no issues.

The ballasting will be the next job, but I think I'll leave that until Friday.

I tried to take a couple of shots showing the wagons inside, 'could do better'.
