Just a couple of photos of the retaining wall now fixed in position after a good weathering to blend it in. The cappings will be
painted now its fixed in position. Just needs blending in with some undergrowth along the base and
also where it joins the Ratio arches. The height difference with the arches will also be disguised somehow,
but that's for another day. Now the ballasting can be completed finally on this section.

At last!! The ballasting of Millsend is complete. Finished the last section this morning.

Once it is thoroughly dried, I will give it some weathering and add some greenery here and there
to blend it all in and then give the rails a good clean. I have found some nice 60s posters for the
retaining wall, so that's tomorrows job, re-sizing them and printing them out whilst at work.

Congratulations Jim!

One thought's occurred to me - who's going to buy the magazine when we've got it all here?!!

Ex-Pat; Ha ha, Yes you're right, but I bet the photographer and camera is better than me and my camera!

Looking forward to you getting cracking on your layout, I'll be watching and commenting with interest.

Latest work done on Millsend, track now weathered, also a few posters on the retaining
walls near the level crossing, middle poster showing a time when we had an England team
to be proud of!!!!! - showing Bobby Moore receiving the cup from her Majesty and also setting
the layout firmly in 1966.

....and on a modern image layout you would have a big advertisement for Iceland!!! :D
This Signature Left Intentionally Blank, but since I have written this and I intended to do it, this Signature is intentionally not blank. Paradox or What?

Yes Jim, so very true!! they deserve the stick they are getting;

A couple of shots now the weeds have taken hold, making this area less new looking and blending in
with the rest of Millsend, giving that run down, neglected and grimy 60's look I try to capture.

Tomorrows job is the capping on the walling to be painted and weathered, final point rodding for
this section to finish and thoroughly clean all the track, 'then we can play trains'.

1st picture blurred unfortunately, can't seem to get a clear picture of this area? (must try harder)!

Thanks js1975;

With the ballasting all done now and weathered, I thought I would do a sweep round the
layout in pictures, starting from the bridge, finishing at the opposite end of the bridge.

I really am glad I decided to ballast the layout, it makes such a difference to the look
of it, adding realism, it seems to make the buildings and surrounding area better looking somehow.

There are still areas for work, such as more background buildings and weeds etc. here and there
to keep me occupied, plus running trains through a finished landscape seems to add to the enjoyment.

Yep, it all looks brilliant Jim. Full of atmosphere, character and charm. I'll certainly have a flick through the magazine once it graces those pages.

Looking great! You have definitely perfected ballasting and the level of weathering applied is spot on.

Thanks for the comments flying scotsman123, Paul (shoot is imminent), TimberSurf (visitors pass 1/6d, old money only) :wink: and Coopsiner;

Not much to show really, just a couple of shots of the goods sidings, I have done some work adding
weeds and vegetation, I am trying to get that overgrown and little used look for these, think I am
getting there, just a little more work to do on them.
