Millsend Layout - OO Gauge Sixties Midland
Hello everyone,
I have decided to post my layout under this section from the advice of other members, previously in Backscenes category.
This is Millsend a mature but still under construction (aren't they all) layout. I am a new member so photos of the railway before this stage don't exist unfortunately.
But at least any work/progress undertaken from now on can be recorded.
Based in the Midland Region, the era is mid to late sixties, an excuse to run steam, green and blue diesels. I have tried to reflect the grime and run down appearance of the railway in an industrial town.
So here are a couple of shots of the layout at present.

Great looking layout there. Will look forward to further posts. Any chance of some pictures of your town area? I'm in the process of doing mine so any inspiration is welcome.

Your comments are much appreciated.
There are a couple of shots in my other thread "Backsecnes"
I will take a couple of pics of the raised town section in the morning, they are all either metcalfe or scalescene buildings in this area.
It is a small opening in the basement with brick piers either side supporting the fireplace in the lounge above. So was an awkward area to work in, but it seems to make a good background to the station area, now it's finished.

Morning all,
As promised a few pics of the small town area.
The space available was only 24" wide x 15" deep so was a challenge.
Hope these may help in some way Carnehan.

Stunning again Jim. Do you have an overall photo of the layout so we can appreciate its extent and shape?

Thanks for the comments ParkeNd.
Here is a set of pics following the layout in a clockwise direction, it is basically round three walls and joined by a lift off bridge section measuring 66" long. This lift off section allows for the basement to be used for other purposes when not operating the layout. I will show a complete track diagram very soon. But for now the following shots should give you a pretty good idea.
(Please excuse the clutter underneath, I get grief off the household authority for the mess I make).
