To be fair the rock faces that are painted are made from chicken wire, covered with plaster cloth then brushed with fine filler. All in all took 2 days to complete. Painted with a wash of Woodland Scenics yellow ochre, oversprayed with halfords zinc primer and then drybrushed with some creamywhite emulsion. The expanding foam you can see in the other pic is an experiment but so far is costing too much. The first range (photo 1 & 3) is about 6 foot long, it will have 3 tracks at the base with various buildings dotted around. Toying with the idea of a mountain road but we'll see.

Thanks for the comments guys, watch this space....

Looking good Steve - will be in touch soon to drop the NRM van off so it can be seen in your fantastic layout(s).

That Expanding foam picture is like a scene from a sci-fi movie

The all devouring sticky mass moves on endlessly

That is one wicked cliff face Steve, you just have to get a couple of climbers on there

Good to have you back, look forward to more photos

As everyone else has said - brilliant work.

I will be interested in comparing the end results of the 2 methods you're using,

John.

expanding foam

Post by Mr P »

forget the expanding foam idea ! :(
You get the same effect as just using the wire mesh and plaster bandage except it cost about another £32 per 4 foot of hill !!
Worthwhile experiment but can't see any great benefit at the end of the day. Will post some more pics later when I have sorted the lighting out a bit more.

Very nice, particularly like the loco close-ups. Going to be a pretty dramatic layout in scenic terms by the time its finished. Look foreward to more.
