Well somehow myself and the layout managed to survive the twin's visit. Some scary moments. Turn your back for a second, and all of a sudden a fully loaded 8F is heading backwards pushing 20 trucks over a complicated set of points at top speed

One good thing - it shows up the flaws or otherwise in the track laying.

When they discovered the scrap wood pile, I even ended up with some scenery on the layout. I now have 2 or 3 other stations, a couple of tunnels, and I think one of these is a crane. Just needs a bit of weathering now and its ready for the exhibition.

Off to find some valium...

Looks scary if you ask me. :)

Looked even scarier when they were assembling them as the trains were still going round  and they kept jumping in surprise when they came flying out of the tunnel near the 'henge construction area

They did a cracking job on the controllers as well. Even remembering to slow down past the window on the inside loop. Most of the time...

Hi all,

not too much to report this week as I have been suffering from a bad back. Felt loads better last night and today though, so I created somewhere for the controllers to sit.

I wanted them in one place and accessible, but out of the way when not in use, or for better photo opportunities of the station at a later date. Also, allows me to reach into the middle of the layout without an extra foot or so of board to lean over.

Pretty standard really, just using 2 drawer type runners and some scrap wood. I haven't documented the assembly, as the instructions provided with the runners are very simple to follow.

Pic 1 shows the "in-use" position with three controllers placed on the board to give a general idea:

Pic 2 is the "out of the way" view:

The usual thanks to T'other Tim for the extra pair of hands this morning. Made it loads easier with someone checking the spirit level and holding baseboard legs while I operate the drill and screwdriver. Cheers matey.

Off to pick up some more wire so I can continue with the 'lectrics,

John.

Great! Hopefully the uncouplers will have arrived and we can get them plumbed in somewhere.

Back to "non-fun work" now unfortunately, :(

Hi Guys.
Well john and I have been busy with the lift up bridge!!
Here are some phots of it and trains running smothly over it...
Image
Image
John's a bit of a wiz with the wiring!!!
Image
This shot shows how we have secured it when trains run.
We used 2 door bolts and drilled holes by marking the tip of the bolt with a pen getting bridge into position and mark the wood this ensures holes are in the correct position..(Hopfully)!!
