Hi - welcome to the NRM Forums - Had a browse of your website - pretty impressive and looks very well engineered and detailed! I don't believe I have seen a dam modelled before! The colours of the rock look great - are they all made from moulds and then painted? I am thinking they are not plaster because of the weight??

Very inspirational, it's the kind of layout I would like to create when retired. Huge yet so many details. Congratulations.

finally started the mid level tracks. The mid level via duct is kit bashed to allow two widths. one will be for a faller car system. The landscape on that side is also finished, the lower bridge is for the tracks going round the helix in the mountains, When this stage is finished i will start the river. Many more pics and detailed description on the website'.

cheers

Unusual enough even to IMAGINE such a project - to put it into practice and take it towards fruition is, just, well, amazing. The castle and the village add almost an air of fantasy - no bad thing in such a context!

Left side finally ready. Now I can start on the right side at mid level. It is summer in the med so the outdoors and pool just beckons. Work indoors slows

The river fed from the power station is finally ready. Walls are paper models and the pedestrian bridge is scratch built. Next on the menu is a cable car from the right side of the power station and landscaping on the left. As usual full updates and more pics on my website http://trainsinmaltaorg.ipage.com/

Just taken a look at the videos on your website - very enjoyable, and great job of disguising the helices.

Have you ever banged your head on that overhead bridge, or has anything ever fallen to ground?

What is the overall layout size (preferably in Imperial please as I can't visualise in metric!)?

What are the steepest and average gradients, and what is the maximum trainload (I noticed 6 coaches at least)?

Hi

The bridge is 6ft off the ground. I can pass underneath without touching. Anybody taller than that will have to be careful. No nothing has ever fallen off as the railings are sturdy and the tracks I have tested for hours.

The room is 13ft x 10ft and the layout takes it all up except for a passage of 2 ft in front of the door. Obviously there are access holes under the helixeses and under the village.

Max gradient is 30 degrees and the pro line machines can pull up to 7 correctly weighted wagons

Just finished installing an old brawa kit which I have heavily modified to suit my layout. The whole thing took around 30 hrs to get up and running due to it's fragility and temperament. Everything had to be laser aligned as the motor either stopped working or I got a very jerky operation. The hrs I put in include the buildings and scenery which I scratch built. I have included a video link of the whole thing in operation.

That is awesome, the track coming out of the mountain on the lower level really needs some kind of stop until it's laid right across the river though ;)

Thanks. Yeah I know. Too late though it will have to be replaced as I have already damaged it.

What an excellent layout. Reminds me of a set from a Gerry Anderson production. :P
