Serious potential with that space! And there's nowt wrong with getting a bit of track and locos to play with for now. Got to make sure they work, haven't you?! ;)

Woopee! Westdale is back on track and there's been a loco running.

I spent ages trying to design something but as it wasn't happening I just started to build the surround and idea started to flow. I've always been better at doing. Looks like its a high level industrial quarry or mining loop, a passenger loop with station and a loop for the museum. I've not decided what interconnectivity there will be between the loops but there will be some. Also looking forwqard to getting some good bridges in there.

So....well....BIG! I'd simply be intimidated by such acres. Needs more vision than I could muster - well done with the start. And neat carpentry.

Thats one reason I gave up trying to design and just get started with the practicalities and let it develop from there.

Well doesn't time fly. Missed a lot of time on the project but settling down again to hard graft. The problem though is as time passes my concept changes and I've decided to rearrange things even although the original idea is unfinished. I think I'm aiming for a 'trainfest' rather than trying to be anything specific. Anyway pics so far hopefully displayed.

Hi AllyG - Good progress there, I love the backscene of the steelworks, very much like Ravenscraig (is it?). If I could offer one suggestion I would try and tone down the colours of your hills, they look like army camouflage just now, also the steeper slopes in the corner would be better painted various shades of grey to simulate rock faces, earth slopes of that type would be subject to regular landslips. :)

This Signature Left Intentionally Blank, but since I have written this and I intended to do it, this Signature is intentionally not blank. Paradox or What?

I agree with that. Anyway it will be a great layout. Thanks for the pics.

Not sure where it is, it was bought as a generic industrial background scene. The colours are certainly going to be toned down, in fact erased. We're moving in about a year so I'm going to have to carry out a slow strip down. Already I didn't realise I had so much track lying around. Still, I've plenty of time to design a new layout. I don't know what kind of space I'll have and I might have to resort to shed building to continue but time will tell.
