Attic 00 Gauge 12'x11' [new pics and vid 53, 05/04/08]

Hi all
1st post!!
I’ve been looking at other people’s photos of their layouts and there’s some inspiring stuff going on.
Here are some photos of my attic layout so far, this is ‘take 2’ as the first layout has been assigned to the ‘reject’ pile already.
In fact, this is tempering my progression as I know I will probably change my mind again at some point. Especially if I can afford to get some more base boards and build round the room, stuck on 8x4 at the mo with an extra bit for fiddle yard. I’m just about to start painting the cork underlay, ready for ballasting, although when ballasting will be done is anyone’s guess. I want to do more landscaping first before I move onto detailing. Also if I have any spare money for little bits and pieces I want to increase the number of structures on the layout.

Anyway, please feel free to comment, make suggestions, ask questions etc...

I think that's the fiddle yard, isn't it?

It's looking good Michael. If you've got room to go round the attic more, maybe you could keep the 8x4 as a centre piece and extend it as and when?

its a fiddle yard. i salvaged some wood and thought i could make use of it here is a pic of it. its a shocking bit of base board construction!! ie no batoning but hey.. its not fallen down yet!
note standard kit mess and thomas the tank for the kids!

Guess I should read the text rather than heading for the photos then.

As long as the baseboard is flat and doesn't warp you should be fine.

Nice work there !!! Great photos as well. Go the whole hog and go right round the room I did. Problem is I'm now wanting to go through the wall into the next room.
Keep up the progress reports and the photos.

Hi Michael, good to see you've got off on the right foot. If you want inspiration, have a look at some of the 'newbies' that have produced excellent standards of work with little experience. It can be done!
