hi all
done a few little bits and pieces. laid the rest of the track on the top siding and also the entry to the fiddle yard. i got a nice curved point here and it sweeps very nicely into the fiddle yard.

here is a video

at the start of the vid the loco's pull off from the new top yard.
near the end i run the rat around the loop in the fiddle yard to couple it to the other end of the stock before it heads off out again. the 50 had the same done but i didn't video that bit! its great to be able to swap ends on the diesels and between tracks like this, eventually when it's all wired up properly it will be even more straight forward, as it is there are some odd power issues. i need to isolate some sections :D

Lovely vid Michael. Nice to see the operating potential being displayed. When can we book a mainline steam day for the layout? :)

just ordered;
light rust, dark rust and sleeper grime paints from railmatch
15 x seep pm1s
another island platform building
couple of other bits... insulated fishplates and another way gauge
AND
2 more bachman mark 2s

mwa ha ha ha ha

and i've got a bunch of swiches/leds and led holder thingies already on the way and i'm gonna order ballast tomorrow if i get time to ring them

all i need to do now is stop arseing around on the computer and get up the attic to do some work!! my aim is to get this layout wired, control panel done, and the ballasting stage done so i can start on the scenics proper, by the time summer kicks in proper

i'm gonna get in trouble, bloody hell will it be worth it! might have to buy the missus a car to make up for it! that or a new summer wardrobe

Go for the summer wardrobe, it will take her hours to just choose the shoes let alone anything else which means you can spend loads of time in the loft....awesome!

Good luck,

aaah, i'm going chuffing mad!!
i've made a video of soldering a point motor
trouble is, now i've done it, i like it and have to share! my girlfriend should lock up my camera's when she goes to bed!
it does show though how easy it is to do them, here's the photo's of the work area, trouble with the seep motors is getting them to sit at a decent position to work on them, so i used a bent bit of card board with a hole in it!! the soldering method i used was based on advice i found on here somewhere in the eletrics section i think. heat the work add the solder to the work not the iron [summit to do with flux]

i take it you meant the traction vid not the soldering vid lol !!
i'll be taking some more photos over the weekend of the nrm tour so i'll try to get some shots that i haven't really done before to widen the angles a bit more
michael
ps also had the steams running today for a vid of them but they don't tolerate the track so much and i'll have to give it a clean for them
