That was a good video. I couldn't say how accurate the track plan was but I love the fact that you can get right from the back of the shed to furthest platform away in one simple movement. The station pilot is great. My fantasy layout would be a terminus with someone else controlling the trains coming and going, leavinge to control the pilot engine. Just like yours

Many thanks for all the positive comments about the layout and my first attempt at film directing. When I've actually mastered the video camera (don't hold your breath!) I'll re-post showing more of the possible engine and train movements.
(I think I'll get my 6yr old granddaughter to do the filming. I'll probably have a better result !!)

Moving house in the next month or two so Bath Queen Square is under deconstruction and will be off limits for quite a while. The new house needs considerable redecoration which will have to take preference. In between doing the rooms I'm hoping to slowly put things back together again.
The up side though, I will have a 27' x 10' fully insulated garage to house BQS in which is a bonus all round. No more extremes of temperature like the present shed, and a fair bit more room to expand (possibly).

That's a sod. But like you say it needs to be done. I wonder which will take longer. Disassembly of the layout or boxing up the stock?

I hope the move goes smoothly,

with mine it took much longer to do the stock but i just ripped the layout up as it was still at an early stage (essentially just track) - you should have seen the amount of bubble wrap used though

Some time ago the layout was dismantled and all was put on hold while we moved house. Well, things are starting to come together again and in the next few months? Bath Queen Square will be resurrected. The new location (garage)has been cleaned, painted and carpeted ready for it. All I've got do now is replaster rewire and then replace our kitchen, build an extension on the back, revamp the bathroom and the other en-suite, decorate the hallway and a bedroom, and bobs your long lost relation, I'll be allowed back onto the railway scene !!

I've decided to do away with wire-in-tube point control and going for point motors instead. Just got to earn enough brownie points to be able to get 42 good motors.

Hi Clive. Just spend a bit of time looking through your thread. What a fantastic layout. Very iconic as well. Everything looks first class.
House moves must be the modellers biggest enemy LOL. I'm currently on a one week decorating/one week modelling roster. Being retired I tend to be a bit (well a lot) flexible in keeping to the roster. With my better half still working if she sees some progress she's happy.
Good luck with the decorating mate looks like you're going to need it.
Hope it's not to long before we see a bit of progress on the layout.

Well it's been quite a while since I ventured back into the world of model railways due to our cave being renovated. New kitchen extention, new kitchen, bedrooms, lounge, garden modified, her own 'playroom', all done. The layout has been re-built for some time but haven't been able to 'play' that much til now. Its' new home is a large garage but the scenic part of the layout has not been modified to fit as you can see from the photo. There is a longer 'run round' but that's the only alteration.




You will also see that the left hand 'walls' of the engine shed and station buildings haven't been finished! In its original location I was unable to view those sides. I suppose I shall have to finish them off now!
One practical problem has arisen though which has reinforced my thoughts on changing some of the wire-in-tube controlled points to being motorised. The temperature variations in the garage are causing me to constantly tweak the free movement on the longest runs to get the point throw right. To be honest, a real pain. However, not having ever used point motors I will be asking for peoples thoughts and advice in a separate thread.
Well thats it for now, but so glad to be back.
