Thanks Scott :) I did do a fair bit of modelling in OO gauge a few years ago, before I had internet & digi camera mind to have took pics. Alas I had to break it up as I simply didn't have the room for it :(

eagle50043 wrote:wow - what an excellent layout. You've done a great job on the station building, and the surrounding buildings such as
the abbey and the large signal box. looks just like shrewsbury, nice one.

makes me think i need to step up the mark on scratchbuilding some stuff for my 'near' future layout.......

Thanks very much Eagle50043 :) Glad you like it. It does give you some satisfaction when you've built structures yourself :) . My abbey was a metcalf kit, it's actually the OO church, but I thought it looked effective as an N guage Abbey  Will look forward to seeing your layout if your starting a thread here?

All the best,
Mark

Thats a very impressive build of the Shewsbury signal box Mark, I hope the signalmen dont get vertigo. Its very imposing just like the real thing.

Also like your telephone kiosks, they look very fiddly to build.

Steve

Thanks Steve :)

Glad you like the signal box. To be honest, the phone boxes wern't half as fiddley to scratch build than the shirescene brass ones I had bought. The tiny pieces are so fine I managed to damage one of them. All I used in the end from shirescenes was the 'T'elecom logo for the box sides & the rest I made myself.

Hi guys,

well i've had a crack at putting a couple of short video's together, the first time since the rebuild. Excuse the shakyness once again as it's a camera phone, pretty hard to hold steady...

Hi Guys,

That time which we all love, when we get a new loco :P . I've pondered over Farish's class 25 for a while, & as it was the old tooling I wasn't going to bother seeing how well detailed the new class 24 was. But i've took the plunge & bought one, & i have to say, though it's the old tooling, it really is a good representation of these engines which just fit into the beginning of the era i'm modelling. Only the fact it sits a little high on it's bogies is my only niggle really.
After a good running in, it's a cracking little runner, so was put straight to work on the Aberystwyth to Stanlow empty oil tanks...

Wonderful pictures, Mark. Your long platforms look simply great. It looks so much better when you can run prototypical rakes and still have platform space to spare. Envious, as usual...

Keep up the great work!

Thanks Michael,

I was lucky in fact that the layout fits in a recess in the bedroom. The only problem is there is also a wardrobe sharing the same recess (as can be seen in the pics) which has made detailing the top end or 'North' end of the layout really difficult.
At some point when circumstances change, the wardrobe will be gone....so I may consider a proper Junction this end of the station & extend the layout...watch this space :P

Mark

Hi chaps

I've had a couple of sets of transfers come through. Some Regional Railways ones which will go on my Class 150/1's as i'm painting 3 2 car sets in Centro livery & some 'Tren y Cwm/Valley train' logo's which i've put on one of my class 108's. I've also blackened around the windscreens as the units appeared in wales/west country during the late 80's. This unit will be well at home on my Shawbury to Newport/Cardiff stopper & also the Llanelli/Carmarthen/Swansea Heart of wales services.

Here is the 108 so far....

Hi Mark...
Been a long time since I browsed properly on here. And last time it was still your mk1 version posted.. Have to say the new version looks great. Loving the attention to detail and your inginuity with the scratch building and details.
Shall be following your progress and trying to spur myself back into it properly...
Keep up the good work..

Hi Jas,

Thankyou for the the kind feedback :) Glad to see your back in the swing of it again, your layout is looking great & i'm looking forward to seeing more pictures.
I'm currently waiting for some vinyls to arrive & will commence painting 3 of my Class 150/1's into Regional Railways Centro green livery, so will post some more pictures once i've done this.
I'm also thinking of a slight change at the station, & that is to remove the canpopies on the bay platforms. This is because it's a struggle to see the trains either side of them without having to really bend your back & also cleaning the track is proving a nightmare as they keep getting knocked unavoidably....so am going to test & see what the station will look like without them.....

All the best,
Mark
