Hi Guys,

I've completed my InterCity rake of Mark 2's this evening aswell as painted all the interiors to go inside.

Here are some pictures of the completed coaches to compliment my blue & grey set....

Mark, this looks absolutely amazing! Well done, especially on those Mk 2 coaches. They look fantastic.

EDIT: Just to say I plan on building a rake of eight Mk2 InterCity Coaches in the same livery with a Mk2A or Mk1 Buffet car. These are incredibly hard to get hold of so I understand why Electra produce them.
"Thanks for taking that personality test for me."
"I'm not sure you'll find it useful. I answered everything with a joke."
"Oh, it told me a lot. For instance, you're not funny."

Hi Garrett,

Thanks for the great comments :) .

I'm really pleased with the vinyls as it was a much needed livery for my time period. I can't understand why Bachmann/farish hadn't done this livery, it seems we have real retro liveries, then a gap right upto post privatisation colours, yet we have loco's in InterCity livery, but no stock in the same livery for them to pull.
Good job we have Electra

All the best,
Mark

Hi Chaps,

Well after an 04:30am alarm & work it's not often I have the urge to do any modelling after an early shift...but this afternoon, i've threw myself into reconstructing what was really bugging me on my layout, & that was the signal box, my representation of Severn Bridge signal box at Shrewsbury.
Shawbury Foregate No 1 box is a sized down structure, in fitting with the size of the station. This is imagined to control the southern end of the station along with the diverging Wolverhampton & Hereford lines. There is imagined to be another signal box controlling the junction at the north end of the station (off scene, Shawbury Foregate No 2) which controls the north end & the junction for the Crewe & Wrexham lines.

Here is Shawbury Foregate No1 box under construction & in place on the layout....

Cracking layout there Mark! The glut of bachfar 101s makes me want to have more than my solitary example. There is something about them that scream late eighties/early nineties BR.

Lovely SB. You seem to have captured that sort of brutal elegance that tall boxes like Shrewsbury have.

Mat. :)

Hi Mark,

Cracking build with the signal box, sits on the layout demanding respect, love it.

Cheers Mike.

Hi Mark,

impressive work on the signal box. Buildings with large windows (or lots of them as in this case) are always tricky, but yours has come out great. Fiddly work with the frames, I imagine.
I also like your last set of pics. They really capture the feel of a busy station. Well done and an inspiration as usual!

All the best,
Michael

Thanks for the compliments Mat :)

I have 4 Class 101's in total, & 2 Class 108's along with a Dummy Blue 121 bubble car which I want to replace with a Blue Grey version. I'd really love for Farish or Dapol to do a 3 car suburban type such as the Class 116/117 which were also very common at the time & area i'm modelling. I have more DMU's first & second generation than i do loco hauled trains, to reflect how I remember the real Shrewsbury back in the day.
Glad you like the box too :)

Hi Mike,

Glad you like it :D I surprised myself how quick I built it. The old one was well past its sell by date, I built it for my 1st layout back in 1999

Thanks very much Michael

Glad you like the box :) , i'm pleased how it's turned out. Now to detail the phone boxes on the platforms & then I need to sort out the area in front of the main station building.
I also love the latest set of pictures of Sudbury....really effective, especially the small details you've added :)

All the best,
Mark

Evening Guys,

It's amazing how a few weeks can go by & I do virtually nothing to the layout, then in 2 days i've achieved two lots of modelling that were really outstanding. Yesterday it was the signal box, & today i've done my phone boxes. I orignally ordered the shirescene one's along with my brutes, & with my fingers (hardly spindle)....I managed to damage the extremely fine brass sections on one of the boxes. Giving up on those, i had an idea to use my existing handmade one's contructed from plasticard for the previous layout & just using the brass 'T' logo off the shirescene one's. I simply edged around the clear plasticard with a thim black marker pen, added a yellow strip for the door to the box (where the handle would be). This is the outcome....

The phone boxes look really good Mark, I can't imagine what you could come up with if you worked in a larger scale.

wow - what an excellent layout. You've done a great job on the station building, and the surrounding buildings such as
the abbey and the large signal box. looks just like shrewsbury, nice one.

makes me think i need to step up the mark on scratchbuilding some stuff for my 'near' future layout.......
