Hi Lewis

I have a Guagemaster Q controller. So i can have control of upto 4 locos/sections. The layout is split into 4 sections, the 2 continuous loops, the terminus/station yard area, and the main depot/storage area. All of this is set up as a 4 way CAB control so i can move easily from one section to the next.

Cheers

i currently use hornby R695 controllers and power clips but in time when i have saved up there being replaced with either combi controllers or HM2000 or i could see about getting a gaugemaster Q as i have 4 section
3 main line sections and the engine shed. :)

I have been putting together some retaining walls for the turntable/depot area. I thought I would post a few pics of how I paint them.

First the constructed walls from Wills kits:
Image

First I paint them all over with Yellow Ochre. I use artist acrylics for painting plastic kits.

Then I add some white to the yellow ochre and pic out a few light bricks. Then I add some Burnt Sienna and pick out some dark bricks. I use Prussian Blue to dry brush over the arch stones. When thats finished I add the drain pipes.
Image

Next I water down the Prussian Blue and add some Ochre and Burnt Sienna to produce a dirty wash. This is then brushed over the whole thing in two or three coats until I think its dirty enough:

Finally I make a weak Yellow Ochre wash and brush over it again while it is flat so that it washes into the morter lines. Finally I try and add some light lime staining etc:

I will put some more pictures up when they are installed on the layout.

Cheers

Nice work - the earthy colours work really well. It's interesting how some blues can sometimes look more 'black' than black (if you know what I mean). I'll look forward to the pictures of it bedded into it's new home :)

Hi All

Here are some pictures of my retaining walls in place. They are not permanent yet, I need to figure out how to fix them in place, so its still a bit of a work in progress.

Hi Lewis

No problem :D Listening to Sishades brings back disturbing memories thats all. I 'll have no more discussions about relegation , thanks very much! Promotion is the only word allowed from now on :D
WE ARE LEEDS!

Back to business - Wickes cork floor tiles, pack of twelve for less than a tenner. Nice and thick and easy to work with.

Cheers
