By the time Norma came out it was getting dark, fully rested she met a few people on Castell Mawr station.
She tried to keep in the shadows, this new HD system shows all her skin blemishes.

Image

Having arrived behind Jinty Johnny she saw an interesting sight - an autotrain, push & pull, what fun.

Image

Can I have a ride, OOoh I want to be in front
Being very friendly GWR, as usual a cut above the rest, she got her wish.

Image

What a thrilling ride ......

Image

Then another handsome engine caught her eye ........ The story continues .....

And what's your name she asked ....

Prairie Pete, he answered with a meaningful sigh

Image

Prairie, Ehh she said, Have you ever been across the Atlantic, I have and exciting it was too.
At this point Jinty Johnny arrived puffing that one of the big lads was out, and without a moment
passing a large loco as big as a County pulled into the station with a long 7 coach train.

Image

Wow he's strong purred Norma.

Image

Too good looking by half came a gruff voice, but he 'aint a tough guy like me !!

Image

Her head was well & truly turned, this guy had muscles on muscles and they went for a spin.
The trouble was Norma is a modern type of Girl and having smuts & grit thrown in her eyes
was not what she wanted.
Then a nice clean Diesel came by with some smart blue & grey coaches, somehow she felt more
at home here and tacked on the back for a ride to the seaside, nice 33's often went there.

Image

Goodbye Norma .... until tomorrow.

Image

Did she pull a 37 ?

Loved the visit to Dad-1! Great story and made my rather banal Thursday afternoon! :D Good to see Norma is still going strong and didn't drop off the end of the world (unlike East Cheltwell  ) Hopefully, I can make some time of the Christmas hols!

More of Normas visit .........
While the weather was well below freezing Norma tried to stay indoors.
However she became restless and went Ice Skating .......
Now we've all heard of the wrong sort of snow, I don't know about the wrong sort of leaves, BUT

Image

Norma had the wrong sort of Ice, it was just too lumpy to skate well. She then decided to try climbing, no not
social climbing although that just may be something for later ?

Image

Although South Northamptonshire is rolling country, there are climbing opportunities .... Trees !!
It was far too cold though with frost on the branches ........ Norma headed for the big indors & big boys ?

Noma was introduced to the heavy team, OK not the heaviest, but still big & noisey.
5 class 37's made a barking welcome ......... This is better than the cold outdoors !!

Image

After a short discussion she was offered a ride behind a nice 25. As he explained not all passenger traffic was like
being in a cattle truck ..... just don't try commuting into London each day !!!

Image

There would have been a blast of horns ..... But you try driving a train, filming with a hand held camera and blowing horns ....

Image

Ahh the YouTube video ..................

http://youtu.be/_iRimDpVqKo

Sorry for the shocking quality as these pictures & video were done in a poorly lit garage on a dull wet day.
This may be the end of Normas visit .... but who knows - until the next member posts ??

Hi THE CHIEF,

No, Norma was raised by John, aka Bufferstop .....
I would say "what ME with a Coach" being a freight man.
It's always a chance to be a bit stupid & a real kid again.
All you have to do it read Bufferstops signature line - Top Man !!!

Norma met some other travellers on her last day here :-

Image

Together they all rolled away into the sunset with trusty 'Duncan', Malcolm & Dwayne telling of trips to New Zealand
where they were almost eaten and Lusty Olympic Olivia still revelling in the memories of grease & her many friends .........

Next to Staines

Righto all Norma has arrived safe and well today, thanks Geoff (love the 37's by the way... I've always thought I needed one for the Bridge). It's taken me a bit by surprise frankly so I have to apologise in advance but I don't think I will have many pictures up prior to Christmas (or possibly the New Year). Those who also work in retail know how hectic December is and how little free time we get. Alas I have precisely zero days off now until the dreaded c word. Still Norma seems in high spirits... nearly literally. As Norma is stored in a rather fancy tube she can keep guard over the precious wine rack before we manage to get into the loft. I might have to do some emergency track work too before I take some pics as I had to lift up one of the track junctions so there is no access to the Yeoveney spur as yet. Shocking indeed!

So yes Andrew fear not just yet, you have the hols to work on the layout before Norma will be passed on. Keep em peeled after Christmas and I'll have some rather good pictures and possibly a video too!

Cheers,

Stuart
