Re: Downton Valley Railway Gr8 Western 177 Gala

Postby kennyGWSR » Wed Jan 25, 2012 10:18 pm

To celebrate the latest arrival on the line, Turkish 8F 45161, i put on a rather late (2 years) GWR 175 gala, renamed to the Gr8 Western 177 Gala, the gala saw three 2-8-0's (hence the gala title!), 45161, 28xx 2818 and O4 63601, the 8F and O4 were to represent classes once on the GWR system. Also in use during the gala were:
7029 Clun Castle
Baby Castle 3205
3440 City of Truro
Pannier 9600
56xx 5619
4575 5526
and 7812 Erlestoke Manor, the Manor soon failed with running problems, hope to have her running again soon. Anyway piccys!

Love the shots Kenny.Must say I'm keen on getting a 6201 Lizzy myself someday(yet another pacific!).
Sorry that I got your hopes up about the spare 5619 smokebox plate BTW  -I checked the other day(Tuesday) when I found the packet that had contained the plates from MJE & only one smokebox plate was provided with the two cabsides.
I've therefore used all 3 on my Bachmann loco.My fault for thinking there were two of each type like I'd get in a Britannia or A4 pack.

Thanks guys, i have realised that Siquelme was not referring to the class 50, nor was he referring to a diesel, he was actually referring to the 56xx 5619.
Its ok Phipps, i will keep an eye out for one. :)

Its a nice model Tony. I haven't had it running with much due to the lack of space, however some people have said they are a little light.

Back to the railway, i visited the Great Central Railway's Winter steam gala yesterday and what a day that was!I bought a Tri-ang Hornby bogie wagon with London Brick on the side of it (my grandad used to work for them so i had to get it!) also got a bachmann cattle wagon, 4mm scale plates for the new build Patriot 45551 The Unknown Warrior (plus membership for the project) and some magnets that had the numbers 7812, 69023 and the shedplate for Llanidloes (89A)
On the saturday i bought home a Hornby 2010 Castle 7034 Ince Castle (second hand)for £35. No damage to the loco just the box being a little scruffy! Going to be using the body from this on my single chimney sound castle so i can have that as a double chimney version with a hawksworth tender to create 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe while the single chimney body will go onto the latest castle to creat either 5029 Nunney Castle or 5080 Defiant.
