But I can only imagine the new version looking at the polan will be even better. You've certainly got a good eye for detail and good hands judging by the scratchbuilding...
Well done and keep up the good work...
Jas... :D

Hi Jas,

Thankyou for that :D . I'm just having a cuppa & a browse on here as we type inbetween tacking the track down for the new station plan. I don't know about anyone else, but the track laying for me in the worst part, you have to have it dead on else it throws everything else out :| .
The new station should be good, 4 decent length platforms for some interesting loco hauled & DMU services hopefully, hope you enjoy the new thread :D

Happy 2012
Alll the best
Mark :)

Only chanced upon yours because I saw your name viewing mine so clicked to see what you had going on... You certainly have the building side sorted so I'm sure your attention will extend to getting your track running perfectly.. I have a few issues with my track here and there but in time they will be sorted. Mainly the rubbish hornby points with their raised frogs makes life hard work.. Will all be swapped for peco medium length as and when I get time and money...
I'm just doing the same, brew and a browse between tasks :D Gives the PVA a bit of time to start drying then....
Hope you enjoyed browsing my thread anyway...

OK guys.....i'm getting ready for you all to shout "what the hell" (or words to that effect) !!

I have tried & tested the Chester Northgate idea, & its not biting with me. The thought of an InterCity train from London Euston to Holyhead having to reverse in the station with the loco running round, after already changing from electric to diesel traction at Crewe, felt a bit far fetched to me the more I thought about it.
As i'm already over familiar with the Shrewsbury concept....wait for it....
I've decided to call my station when complete SHAWBURY!

Better the devil you know as they say!, so the Chester Northgate thread I started will hopefully slide to the depths of the forum archives without too many people noticing (he sais  )

So Back to Shawbury the 2nd....or is it the 3rd....
The platforms are constructed, the plan is as per Chester Northgate, 4 good length platforms, each long enough for a loco + 7 Coaches.
Today i've been constructing bits for the platforms such as a waiting room, buffet, staff accomodation & Phone boxes.
Here are the pictures....

Phone box after construction with clear Plasticard & white card. I will decorate this with yellow trim to look like the original 80's telecom boxes.

Cheers for now guys, hope I don't change my mind about the location before I'm back again lol! :D

Doesn't matter what you call it Mark, it still looks great!

I take it you are using clear plasticard for those platform shelters?

Mat. :)

It sure is Mat,

Have to agree, it's only a name after all.

Great updates Mark, and yet again some nice and creative models.

And Shawbury it is lol... Nice little detailing once again. Waiting shelter looks good. Phone box, not a chance in hell of me making something that small with my sausage fingers
I'll be watching this one progress....

Thankyou Scott. I'm going to stick with what I know afterall, I think it was just the station layout on the previous model I had issues with, feeling the track plan & platforms wern't quiet right. I've thought a lot more about this one & it should work all being well

Thankyou Jas,
I had more glue on my fingers than anything else lol! :P . My next job is the Platform canopies, I havn't started them as yet, but i'm hoping to get them done before the months out as i'm working a few awkward shifts....as well as my social life getting in the way when i have days off :? lol!

Hi Mark,

have to admit I didn't see that one coming  . But hey, I can see your point with the additional running around after the loco change.
However, the buildings look good and the phone boxes are great. I wouldn't have dared to scratch build them; but now after I see that it can be done...
Will keep an eye on this one... again  .

Cheers,
Michael

Hi Michael, I didn't see it coming either lol! But glad your likeing the new developments. It is fiddley to make the phone boxes, but well worth it in the end :D

So chaps....onto the latest progress.....the platform canopies. This I tell you I was dreading....as its a design I havn't tried before.....& thats the traditional GWR style of canopy. But they the first one has turned out great....made from clear Plasticard, card and slaters canopy vanlance.
Here's some pics :)
DSC_0529.JPG
the start of the caopies, lines drawed with black marker pen for each pain of glass, & metcalf platform canopy sides stuck on to give the impression of slates
DSC_0529.JPG (128.55 KiB) Viewed 1402 times

DSC_0531.JPG
I then bent the plasticard to shape, & cut out card spacers & strengtheners which I placed around every 10 centimetres
DSC_0531.JPG (161.5 KiB) Viewed 1405 times

DSC_0532.JPG
A 1st attempt at placing the canopy on its supports....the old Nails from the previous Shawbury, it will be glued once finished....
DSC_0532.JPG (149.94 KiB) Viewed 1403 times

DSC_0533.JPG
Then on goes the valance.....the difference this makes is great

DSC_0535.JPG
the canopy in place with valance, placed on the supports....
