I have to say...

This is a brilliant layout and I love the station,

It really captures the scene well.

Did you scratch build the flower boxes?

Hi Phil,
I did scratch build the flower boxes. On the bay platforms, i made small brick walls from metcalf brick paper & card & glued lichin on to the top. Under the canopies by the benches, these were made from cutting up plastic tube & again gluing on some lichin. Glad you like it :)

Hi Guys,
well not too much developement over the last couple of weeks or so on Shawbury, though the layout now has signals & walkways around the carriage sidings & loco stabling point in readyness for ballasting.
Here's some shots of the situation so far....

I have to say this looks very, very good. You have gone for Shrewsbury's colour light and semaphore signal arrangement.

Hi guys,
well i noticed i'd made a bit of a boo boo in my last post  , in the fact that the arms on my semaphore signals were in fact the wrong way round. I have now corrected this & took some more pics..

Thanks thebritfarmer, it is coming together nicely now. I'll soon be making a start with detailing the lower board with scenics, & also the dreaded ballasting.
All the best :)

I thought something was wrong with those signals. Never the less a good layout anyway. Have you ever considered getting a 175 from electra models or not?

Hi Tim,
yes i only realised the signals wern't right after looking at the 1st set of pictures i'd posted & thought 'Ooops'
The 175 would be too futuristic for the era i'm modelling which is mainly between 1987 to 91. If they ever bring out a retooled 158 in Regional Railways Express livery then i'd be tempted by a couple of those.
All the best :)

Hi Guys,
well some more progress to report on Shawbury today as i've started to detail the lower section of the layout. Here's some pics to give you an idea of what i've been doing today....
070720111125.jpg
There will be a road under this bridge, the pub on the left is scratchbuilt off my 1st layout.

070720111126.jpg
This is where the river will be. As regards to the line on the lower board & the river, i was planning on putting a girder next to the track, to give the impression of the river running underneath....

070720111127.jpg
A couple of Class 47's stabled at the stabling point. There will be more detail added to the wall ie weathering etc
070720111127.jpg (141.54 KiB) Viewed 1993 times

070720111129.jpg
Meanwhile over at the station, 2 x Class 153's, strengthened for the summer to ease overcrowding, wait at Platform 2 with a Heart of Wales service to Swansea

Hi Guys,
a bit of an update. Since my last post, ive packed in most of the incline from the lower board upto the higher level. Ive used papier-mache for the lower half of the incline & have painted & covered it in scatter. I've also got the River in now too, i've used silver foil & blue paint, & i'm going to add some layers of varnish to give it a better finish. Still lots to do such as adding pavements, properly paint the roads, street lamps, fancing, bushes & tree's etc....
Here's the situation so far......
180720111139.jpg
This view shows the decend of the incline, a class 31 is seen on the freight only station avoiding line (continuous loop) & a class 37
departing on the upper level with a Cardiff Central to Liverpool Lime Street service.

Rumbling over the bridge past the pub can be seen the Cardiff - Liverpool service. Much more detail yet to be added here.
