Hi all.
Managed to get the baseboard assembled this evening and loosely sat roughly in its place.
First two pics, assembled then in place.

Fitted the loconet port for additional controllers as well.

And for the first time ever I can provide neat cable runs...

Finally I have started mapping out where the track will be, so it actually feels like proper progress today...

Hopefully more soon..

Now the progress gets interesting. The baseboard is obviously essential but it's also a really boring stage - no sign of railways :)

Your spring/summer progress will put many of us to shame.

Sorry Paul, still no sign of a railway but I did include a loco in a pic to attempt to please you
More board work today naturally, but quite a bit of it. Located the main section properly and started work on the dropped end which will be the canal basin. Glued and painted part 1 of the bridge also.

And one little point to make my life easier, I'm labelling every wire this time to help improve troubleshooting...

Hopefully more soon.

Hi all.
Not had a lot of time to do much the past couple of days but managed to put a bit of the signal box kit together.
Now I'm not the best modeller out there with kits and I must admit I am struggling with the fiddly side of it all due to large semi numb hands!!!
Anyway, here's a pic of the progress on it so far...

Hope to get this all painted and assembled this week.

The signal box build is coming along nicely Jas, especially like the home comforts for the signalman
a 'rug', bare boards for the man at Millsend, seriously though you say fingers and thumbs, well it's looking
pretty good to me, just watch when you handle the window frames though, their quite delicate, I found that out the hard way.

I agree, that signal box is looking like a great place to work and watch the trains go by, (if only I was a 1:76 scale model)

Cheers for the comments chaps. Glad you're liking the signal box, hoping to get on with it this evening. Have got a few more creature comforts to add to it yet also. :D
Wood burning stove, tv and few other bits. Hood-dale companies look after their staff!!
Jim, those frames are most certainly are fragile, got them sat painted on my workbench awaiting assembly. May well get my 10 year old to do it for me. He likes model making and definitely has smaller more gentle paws!!
Anyway, must go to work now. More to follow shortly..

Hi all.
Ben a bit distracted this past few days, had a busy weekend. Jiu jitsu grading on Saturday, family birthday party the same night. Feeling ill Sunday morning, it shopping in the afternoon.. so not conducive to modelling progress.
Just ordered some track tonight so when that arrives I shall start laying it and hey ho away we go...
Fingers crossed I'll have something good to report in a few days.

Hi all.
Just a brief update on the state of things. Well, I have four times the space I previously had. Nope, the loft hasn't grown, I have decided to scrap the start I've just made and go to N gauge!
I know it's a word change for someone as ham fisted as me but my love for the long trains has won out. Should get a great run in a 13 ft by 13 ft L-shaped layout. Just had some track and bits turn up today and had get my glasses on straight away!
Anyway, this change set my start back some what as I re-plan for the new scale.
So hopefully I'll have some progress report on soon.

Wow Jas, that's a massive decision to make there! Are you starting completely from scratch on this? Do you have any locos, rolling stock, track, etc? I can't wait to see what you come up with for your track plan. Exciting times.

Hi Paul.
Yup certainly a big decision, but the right one I feel. Stock, track? What's that
I have half a circle and a few straights plus one res liveried guv to measure clearances with and that is it!! Going to order more track this week to see what fits where, also purchasing a nice blue class 101 dmu off ollieollieollie on here later this week.
Once I get used to sizes and clearances I can get a plan together. Still going to utilize the board layouts I've already said. So will be 13x13ft 'L' between 3 to 3 1/2ft deep. Should give me some good runs for the long trains.
Anyway, as I get going I will post all the progress.
