Hood-dale Main - V3 is imminent!!!

Postby tractor37 » Wed Apr 13, 2011 11:26 pm

Hi... Been threatening to start a layout thread for a while so here we go.. Be gentle! :D

Hood-dale Main is a fictional large industrial biased town in the heart of the Yorkshire Ridings. It is a busy area with large amounts of main line traffic from all areas passing through with a good range of freight workings. Passenger services are also aplenty with HST's, railtours and dmu's stopping and passing. Mail trains are also in evidence to. (so expect to see multiple eras and regions!)

I'm primarily trying to model the late 80's early 90's but obviously with it being my layout there is allowances on the period with rather a good slice of artistic license thrown in! The layout is loft based and basically a round and round, 3 sides scenic and one as an extended fiddle yard. The layout is 17ft9" long and 13ft8" wide. varying from 2 to 4 ft deep. It is mainly on one level but the scenery does rise and fall around it to create scenic interest.
I am working on a rather large town area, industrial estate, motive power depot and station area which is about 7ft long.

Right, lets have some photos, thats what you're looking for isn't it? lol... :D

This is the view down the main scenic length of the loft apart from a few feet beneath the camera.

So thats all I've got in the way of photos for now, more to follow shortly...

Hi
Always great to see another layout arrive to the forum!
Looking great, I love the space and especially the sweeping curve of the lines around the Traction Maintenance Depot :D
Excellent pics of the crime scene and the suspect
Looking forward to seeing more,

Cheers,
Thomas

Hi fikasfook,

Thats a great layout you've got there, how long have you been working on it ?

Great collection of stock, and some great attention to detail. The lighting looks really good too.

I like your diesel brake tender, is it a Genesis kit ?

Be sure to post more photos!

Hello DrStroganoff... Thanks for the comments, I certainly shall be posting more as and when. The layout has been in this incarnation for about 3 months now the baseboards have been down for nearly a year with nothing really done to them until this January!
As for the diesel brake tender, not sure if its a genesis kit or not, got it cheap on fleabay a while ago, just need the fox transfers to give it some life, may repaint it blue aswell... Won't really use it, just looks good sat in a siding like it is. One end is detailed with vac pipes, 3 link coupling etc...

Wow you did all that in 3 months? Impressive! That's one big layout and some great photos and cameo scenes you have in place. There's certainly plenty to catch the eye.

Very Nice fikasfook,
(like the name BTW)

Silly thing that caught my eye was the insulated roof ...... so with no excuses for too cold, or too hot !!
We all look forward to this developing. That should keep you (and us) going for years.
Certainly impressive for first postings.

Hi Geoff... Use the name on everything, usually raises a chuckle! :D
Yup keeps the roof space in a reasonable temperature most of the time, wouldn't want any excuses for not gettin in the loft now would I?
And many thanks. Nice to know I'm starting on the right track (and the left and various sidings!!!)

I really love this pic. Just needs a couple of no-hopers spraying graffiti on the walls...
