Hi 87,
Thanks very much for the links, they've proved very useful. As I plan on converting a couple of Hornby's Class 43 units into the HST prototype driving cars, I might have a use for those spare cabs after all if I scratch build the Class 89 unit, rather than buy a ready-to-run model from DC kits. This has helped me consider other options.
As for lighting, I have a habit of using complicated and messy setups with large LEDs and light-carrying wire, but the results are still usually good despite the needlessly large amount of work required.
In the future, I want to build Nuneaton and Leicester, and I've recently set projects for myself to run various test trains, so it's good to know that a Class 89 would suit the scene (as Nuneaton is on the WCML). I've also seen images where an RTC loco - test Car 10 - Lab 6 - Class 89 loco formation is run on non-electrified lines, so I can run this through Leicester too. I've also decided to take a liberty and run my 225 IC train through Nuneaton too, so Lab 6 would make an excellent addition for running alongside my Class 91.
How did you craft the flat part of the roof where the pan lies?
Thanks again for the info, and your layout truly is amazing!
"Thanks for taking that personality test for me."
"I'm not sure you'll find it useful. I answered everything with a joke."
"Oh, it told me a lot. For instance, you're not funny."
