Old Oak Common Hydraulic Heydays.
Re: NSE days old oak
Possibly not going to get a lot done today as tweaked my back at work last night but i am sure a good massage will come 1st.I have plans now to start detailing up around the ecs sidings and possibly another bridge that carried the freight only line to london end of the depot may be added to give more scope and more running is required esp with the 2 rnse class 50s aswell as 47573.

Re: NSE days old oak
I see the constant bending over to get under the layout is taking its toll! Must admit my back ached a bit on the journey home from yours last month!
Cracking work on the new bridge, especially given how quickly it's gone together. Really suits the layout nicely.

Re: NSE days old oak
Thanks chris as always.
The bridge is still a work in progress and needs bigger beams at the top and some black pen rivet detail added but i needed to have a rest.I also plan to do a washing plant around the ecs area.

Re: NSE days old oak
Nice pics of Resolution, but i have noticed a mistake
to be correct Resso should have the cab door windows white as it did not carry the Doncaster variation.
I know this is because Hornby released Dauntless one of the 4 that did, but it is also a job i have to do on 35 and i am certainly not relishing it one bit.
Or are you using modellers licence?

Re: NSE days old oak
Thks for that ian.
its something i had,nt noticed on 50018 and will possible do in the near future.Any news on glorious will be welcome.
I cant see myself getting much done this week apart from finishing the rail bridge and starting the wash plant. One thing needed is a cpl of forklifts and none available around here.

Re: NSE days old oak
Excellent Richard and that was quick
hope you did not mind me pointing it out was not having a go just letting you know, although very minor a standard ONSE 50 looks so much better with.
It is all Hornby's fault why on earth they went for Dauntless i do not know
As stated along with 50002/037 and 044 the only ones overhauled and outshopped in NSE Livery at Doncaster Works.
Doncaster went for this quite bizare Livery variation, so Hornby would have been far better to release a standard ONSE 50 namely 50017/018/019/023/025/029/032/034 and 035
Personal differences aside the best 2 they should have gone with are Howe, Renown or Furious both of which short plates and easy to renumber.
However who would want to renumber 34?

Ian no mate not looked at as having a go but valable info given as always on 50018.
Peter yes thats the freight line to willensden jcn but alas is static and un connected to the rest of the layout.I also plan the road bridge that was along side at the london end with also some backscene buildings.

Another loco i hav,nt yet got round to sorting out is hymek 7017 as this needs its headboard clips removing and that is a job i am not looking forward to.As some may be aware the 1st 30 or so hymeks were not built with these. They wasn,t to bad at removing on dapols n gauge version as so tiny.Well i will give it a go as with i am hoping to get my 1st tower light built and lit by the weekend.

Re: NSE days old oak
Hi Richard
I really like the job you've done with the bridge. Just as a wee idea: I wondered if you'd considered modelling a train being held at a signal on the bridge: say a wee loco plus pair of engineer's wagons or somat next to a permenantly red signal? Thought it might look interesting.
Cheers mate, hope things are going OK (back notwithstanding!
)
Tim

Thks guys.
tim good idea but really short of space on that rail bridge but may look into it as was in its hey days a very busy freight route.
While i mentioned the head board clips on the hymek i thought i better have a go and what a pain it was and not totally happy with the results as did,nt like a paint job.Heres the pics see what you think.
