Thanks Mountain.

I really hope it’ll be at least believable.

I mustn’t forget about signals. I do need to make sure I run the wires for them. May do that as I have the platforms in and out at the moment for wiring the platform lamps.

Thanks
Dan

I have been making progress with my little layout but not been able to today. It is a bit of a slow process. It is surprizing how much work we put into our creations! But it is rewarding and fun.

I agree. Sometimes it pays to take a step back and think: “I did that”.

Thanks

Thanks PNP,

Let’s see how I get on tonight. If there is no update, my soldering iron probably won. I can post an update from A&E

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Well... they work! The wiring needs tidying up a bit and I am going to add some leds under the lift up section. There will also be some lamps hung from the wall to the right of the Central Trains DMU. I am going to use the same lamps but separate the heads and drill them into the wall.

On to the photos:

Looks excellent :D. The only problem is you're gonna need street lights too now :?

I thought that...

I’ve done it now! I’ve got to light everything now to make it look right. Street lights, buildings, cars, the list goes on. Oh well, at least I’ve already run a 12v bus under the town. Hopefully not too much faff next time.

Thanks for saying it looks excellent by the way.

Thanks
Dan

You're welcome.

Hmmm street and building lights are one thing, but cars? Could be tricky :?

I've only got two lights on my micro layout - one station lamp and one in the little station shelter. Actually, one loco has lights too. I never even considered road vehicles! The 'other side' of the layout offers more scope as I am planning a number of warehouse buildings . . .

Your electric bill will go through the roof if you light up the town as well.

Looking great. Well done.

PNP, this is my first proper lighting project. I have opened a can of worms though. Lighting in static cars shouldn’t be too bad. I do have some faller vehicles which could be a challenge. Others have done it though, so it must be possible.

Glencairn, you could be right about that. It’s going to be a never ending project as it is without me adding to it with a million bulbs. Oh well

Thanks for the encouragement, it’s all good fun

It’s my escapism, Glencairn! After the kids go to bed, we eat, then it’s my time.

It beats thinking about real life for a couple of hours. So, it’s always fun :D

Thanks

I build loads of lights into every building I make and usually more than one switched circuit! It's true, when you start, you have to apply to every thing! I consider myself a bit of a lighting buff and thought I had seen every OO/HO light available, but do not recognise those at all! They look extremely fine, might I enquire were you got them from?

Hi Timbersurf,

I got them from eBay. Cheap Chinese imports. I did look through a lot of options before settling on these.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163770451409

I think, compared to a lot of the Chinese items, these are quite good looking. They are tiny LED’s inside the lamp bowls. So hopefully they will last

Adding lights to buildings I have built may be a challenge but hopefully worth it. Any buildings coming up, will have lights added as I go now.

I am using servo extension leads to plug everything together. They are hard wearing but small plugs/sockets. Very useful.

Thanks
Dan
