Click on plan for a larger version

Its a 10' x 3' plan on 2 boards (6' x 3' and 4' x 3') which will be able to taken down when needed.

Baseboard frame and legs came from Model Railway Solutions

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/ModelRailwaySolutions

I'll get some photos up soon of the full size plan with some stock on in place and the baseboards being built

Nice looking plan Dale. Plenty of interest there.
It still amazes me how much you can get into a small area on 'N' gauge.
Looking forward to your updates.

Wow plenty there to provide a lot of points of interest and a good size. Look forward to seeing developments of this layout.

A very slight tweak to the plan to give a headshunt on the dmu/loco depot and changed the angle/position of some of the bits in the yard.

The last bits of the baseboard arrive today, so I can build those next week.

I'm also printing out the plan fullsize and putting stock on it to see how it will look, capacity etc. I'll take some photos when I'm doing this so you can see how it will look

Its now full size out on the floor and it suddenly looks huge!!

I can fit 16 large locos on the 3 loco roads and the DMU roads can fit 6 159 cars on them, so will be nice and full.

I've asked Jeff0052 on ebay to build me a 4 road 1m long DMU shed and a 3 road 3 loco long engine shed. Hopefully I will have them built with a removable roof.

Its now down to scenary planning and what to put where and I'm lost, partly due to scale. I've got no idea how small/large bits need to be, so I need to do some playing.

Now you probably realise that this is not going to be a cheap venture! I was quite suprised how much stock I could fit in my 6x3-ish layout so yours is going to be HUGE! Looking forward to those pics....

The stock won't be the problem as I have it already, the expensive parts are going to be....

52 points - £500
Converting current stock to DCC - £1400
52 Traintronic point motors (inc DCC decoder) - £988

Its the DCCness is going to be expensive. BUT It will make the wiring easier, simpler and cheaper and running will be easier

You must have a fair bit of stock for it to cost £1400!

The plan is definately a work of art and I do not envy you in the task of ballasting and wiring!

However, This is going to be an awesome layout to watch getting built, spam us with photos please :D

Ryan.

Full scale plan fun!!!

First we have the overall plan showing various stock including a full length HST :D, can fit 4 full length HSTs on the layout and on the longest road, 28 MGR wagons.
Image

Next we have a slightly closer look at the fiddleyard at the back, engine shed on the right and DMU shed on the left
Image

My 3 road engine shed can hold around 18 locos, I think I may use siding for a bit more loco storage or see if I can squeeze another siding in.
Image

My 4 road DMU shed can hold a fair amount of DMUs  Should be getting a 150/2 in Regional Railways this week in the post which should fill it nicely
Image

I'm getting Jeff00052 (or something) via ebay to build me a DMU shed and engine shed both with a removable roof hopefully. I've got a building of his already and its excellent.

Baseboard time...

2 Baseboard kits (6' x 3' and 4' x 3') and 3 sets of legs from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/ModelRailwaySolutions (Very nice stuff, all pre drilled where needed and fits together well)
Image

The 6' x 3' board dry fitted together.

The 4' x 3' and the 6' x 3' boards together.

Will glue them and put all the panel pins in tomorrow and then leave them to dry for a day or so. Then I'll build the legs and sort the joining and alighning of the 2 baseboards.

Looks very impressive but without wishing to put a downer on you layout that is going to be a hell of a lot of space to fill
Will be interested to see how this progresses.

That's about half of my locos ;-)

I shouldn't any more stock to fill it. Some if it won't fit on I think

Whoh :) Space!

Any reason not to continue the platforms further round so longer trains can stop there? Your hidden sidings certainly look they could accommodate them :)
